Keanu Reeves has revealed a few details about his next big movie project, and the concept sounds unlike anything fans have seen from him before. The actor is teaming up with director Tim Miller for a new Warner Bros. sci-fi adventure that Reeves describes as a mix of time loops and terrifying ocean danger.

During an interview with Collider’s Steven Weintraub while promoting the upcoming docuseries Hooligans: The ARCH Racing Project, Reeves opened up about the mysterious film and gave fans a very short but exciting description of what they can expect.

“Sharks. Time machine. Groundhog Day,” Reeves said when asked about the project. When Weintraub reacted by saying the idea sounded amazing, Reeves simply replied, “Yeah, man!”

The description immediately caught attention because it suggests the movie will combine the repeating-day concept of Groundhog Day with a dangerous shark survival story. While Reeves did not reveal any major plot details, the combination of time travel and a deadly ocean threat has already created plenty of curiosity around the film.

The upcoming project will be directed by Tim Miller, the filmmaker behind Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate. Reeves has not starred in an original action movie since the success of the John Wick franchise, making this one of his most interesting upcoming projects.

Reeves also joked that the movie will involve plenty of time in the water and possibly some dangerous encounters with sharks. “And getting eaten by sharks,” he added when asked if he was looking forward to the aquatic elements of the film.

The actor shared these details while discussing a very different passion project: motorcycles. Reeves and Gard Hollinger, his longtime business partner and co-founder of ARCH Motorcycle, are the subjects of Samsung TV Plus’ six-part docuseries Hooligans: The ARCH Racing Project. The series follows their journey as they transform their custom-built motorcycles into racing machines and compete in professional motorcycle racing.

In the Collider interview, Reeves and Hollinger talked about taking ARCH Motorcycle into the racing world and the reaction they received from fans. Reeves explained that the support from the motorcycle community was something he did not expect.

“Really, fans of the brand, fans of ARCH Motorcycle, we really felt so much support from everyone at the racetrack,” Reeves said. “It was so cool that you guys are here. A new American team, trying to do what you’re doing.”

The actor also discussed how much fun he has been having with ARCH and joked about his long beard during the filming of the series. Reeves compared his post-film beard to David Letterman’s famous beard after leaving late-night television.

“When you finish a film, sometimes you just want to let it go. You don’t want to shave. You don’t want to do anything,” Reeves said.

While details about his shark-filled time travel movie remain limited, the project already sounds like another unusual addition to Reeves’ growing list of roles. After years of playing action heroes and bringing iconic characters to life, the actor appears ready to explore another strange and ambitious sci-fi concept.

Meanwhile, fans can see a different side of Reeves in Hooligans: The ARCH Racing Project, which premieres on Samsung TV Plus on July 12.
