‘Toy Story 5’ Will Cross Major Box Office Milestone in Huge Weekend Run
Toy Story 5 is continuing its incredible box office run and is set to reach another major milestone this weekend. The latest Pixar adventure is expected to cross the $500 million mark worldwide, making it the fastest movie in the Toy Story franchise to reach that achievement.
The strong performance shows that audiences are still excited to return to the world of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the beloved characters. According to box office reports, Toy Story 5 had already earned $367 million globally as of June 24, with $215 million coming from the United States and Canada and another $152 million from international markets.
The movie had a huge opening weekend, earning $310.2 million worldwide. That total made it the biggest global debut in the history of the Toy Story franchise and the strongest opening ever for a Pixar movie. It passed the previous records held by Toy Story 4, which earned $244.5 million during its opening weekend, and Inside Out 2, which opened with $294.2 million globally.
In North America, Toy Story 5 made $71 million on its first day alone, including $17.5 million from Thursday preview screenings. The film went on to earn $159.7 million during its opening weekend in the United States and Canada, while international markets added another $150.5 million.
The latest entry in Pixar’s iconic franchise continues the story of the toys after the events of Toy Story 4. The movie follows Jessie, Woody, and Buzz as they deal with a new challenge involving Lilypad, a tablet that becomes Bonnie’s favorite toy.
Toy Story 5 is directed by Andrew Stanton, who also helped develop the story and co-wrote the screenplay with Kenna Harris. The movie brings back several original voice actors, including Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack as Jessie. The cast also features new voices such as Conan O’Brien, Greta Lee, Shelby Rabara, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Craig Robinson.

The film was produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures and carries a reported budget of around $250 million, making it one of the most expensive animated movies ever created. It also marks a new chapter for the franchise, as it is the first main Toy Story movie made without involvement from former Pixar chief John Lasseter.
Toy Story 5 had its world premiere in Los Angeles on June 9 before arriving in theaters in the United States on June 19. Critics have responded positively to the film, praising its animation, humor, voice performances, and emotional themes. However, some reviewers questioned whether another sequel was necessary after the emotional ending of Toy Story 4.
Despite those concerns, audiences have clearly shown that they are ready for more adventures with Pixar’s famous toys. The movie’s record-breaking opening and fast climb toward $500 million prove that the franchise still has a powerful connection with viewers around the world.
With its latest success, Toy Story 5 has become one of the biggest movies of 2026 and another major win for Pixar. The film is currently among the year’s highest-grossing releases and continues to prove that Woody and Buzz still have plenty of magic left.
