[Trailer] Netflix Drops First Look at Thrilling South African Series ‘Bad Influencer’
Netflix is set to release a new South African crime drama called Bad Influencer on October 31.
The series follows a single mother who makes fake luxury handbags and joins forces with a self-obsessed influencer to sell them and try to pay off her debts.
The first trailer for the show debuted on Tuesday. It introduces viewers to the main characters, the counterfeit bags, and the dangerous world they navigate. The show is the first series from the Realness Institute in collaboration with Netflix’s Episodic Lab.
“When a small-time con artist and single mom, BK (Jo-Anne Reyneke), must provide for her son with special needs, she teams up with wannabe luxury influencer Pinky (Cindy Mahlangu) to sell fake luxury handbags online,” the synopsis says.
“Their scheme draws the attention of Bra Alex (Vincent Mahlape), a notorious criminal in a counterfeiting syndicate, as well as law enforcement. Caught between criminals and cops, the unlikely duo must outfox both to stay out of jail, survive, and thrive.”

Bad Influencer was created by Kudi Maradzika and Lincoln Green Media and produced by Gambit Films.
The cast features Jo-Anne Reyneke, Cindy Mahlangu, former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, Thapelo Mokoena, Mpilo Shabalala, Hamilton Dlamini, Modise Motaung, Kamo Pule, Emmanuel Castis, Julia Anastasopoulos, Brendon Daniels, Aubrey Poo, Nat Ramabulana, Lerato Nxumalo, and Charlie Bouguenon.
Executive producers include Nosipho Ngoasheng Dumisa, Kudi Maradzika, Bradley Joshua, Benjamin Overmeyer, Simon Beesley, Travis Taute, and Daryne Joshua. Daniel Zimbler is co-executive producer. The series is directed by Keitumetse Qhali and Ari Kruger. The writing team consists of ‘Kudi Maradzika, Daniel Zimbler, and Sydney Dire.
The trailer sets the stage for a tense story of crime, deception, and survival as BK and Pinky try to stay one step ahead of both the law and criminals.
