Vince Gilligan Drops a Massive Update on ‘Pluribus’ Season 2
Fans of Pluribus already have a reason to look ahead. While the first season is still making an impression on viewers, creator Vince Gilligan has confirmed that work on Season 2 is well underway.
The update came during an interview with Deadline, where Gilligan spoke alongside Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn. While much of the conversation covered their long creative partnership that began on Better Call Saul, Gilligan also revealed where things currently stand with the show’s second season.
According to the creator, the writing process has already reached an important stage. He explained that he and his team have moved beyond the early planning phase and are making solid progress on the next chapter of the story.
“Well, we’re about a little past the halfway point. My writers and I have figured out the episodes, and it always – every season on every show – starts out hard. And then you just stay with it long enough. I’m starting to get to the point where I’m thinking, I’m looking forward to shooting this, and people seeing it, because I’m kind of digging it.”
The comment is one of the clearest updates fans have received about Season 2 so far. It confirms that the writers have already mapped out the season and are moving closer to production. It also suggests that Gilligan is feeling confident about the direction of the new episodes.
The Breaking Bad creator admitted that developing a new season is never easy in the beginning. However, he said the project has reached a stage where he is excited to see it come to life on screen. That excitement is likely good news for viewers who are eager to find out what happens next in the unusual world of Pluribus.
Gilligan also joked with Seehorn during the interview about her role in the upcoming season. “You’re in it.”
Seehorn responded with a simple “Thank you.” The lighthearted exchange confirmed that her character, Carol Sturka, will continue to be part of the story moving forward.
The creator also hinted that Season 2 will expand on some of the ideas introduced in the first season. He revealed that the creative team discussed different possibilities before deciding where to take the story.
“Just leave the people wanting more, make people wait till about Episode 7 or 8, but we said no. We’re thinking we’ll learn more about the atom bomb instead of just dropping it completely as a plot point.”
While Gilligan did not provide many details, the comment suggests that one of the show’s major mysteries will receive more attention in Season 2. Rather than pushing it into the background, the writers appear interested in exploring it further.

For now, there is still no release date for the second season. However, the update from Deadline’s interview offers reassurance that development is moving forward. The writing team has already outlined the episodes, key cast members are returning, and Gilligan himself seems excited about what is being created.
That may not be a full Season 2 reveal, but it is enough to show that Pluribus is far from finished. If Gilligan’s comments are any indication, fans can expect more answers, more story development, and a deeper look into the mysteries that were introduced in the first season.
