‘Voicemails for Isabelle’ Trailer Drops Featuring Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson
Netflix has released the first trailer for Voicemails for Isabelle, a new romantic comedy starring Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson. The film is directed and written by Leah McKendrick and is set to premiere on Netflix on June 19.
The story follows Jill, played by Deutch, as she struggles with the loss of her sister Isabelle. To cope with her grief, she continues calling Isabelle’s old phone number and leaving emotional voice messages. What she does not realize is that the number now belongs to Wes, played by Robinson, a real estate agent who slowly becomes invested in the messages he keeps receiving.
The trailer shows Wes opening up to his friends about the strange situation. He says, “This random girl has been leaving voicemails on my new work cell. They’re for her sister.” As the story continues, the messages become more emotional and personal, giving Wes a better understanding of Jill’s pain and loneliness.
In one of the film’s emotional moments, Jill says, “I’m just calling you to ask, ‘How am I supposed to do this without you?’ You’re in a better place – probably slurping face with Heath Ledger as we speak, huh? But I miss you.” The movie mixes romance, grief, and humor as the connection between the two characters slowly grows through the unexpected voicemail exchanges.
The cast also includes Nick Offerman, Lukas Gage, Harry Shum Jr., Ciara Bravo, Megan Danso, Gil Bellows, Toby Sandeman, and Spencer Lord.
According to reports surrounding the release, the film features music by Este Haim and Amanda Yamate. Producers on the project include Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Becky Sanderman.
Deutch has recently appeared in films including Anniversary and Nouvelle Vague, while Robinson recently starred in the Netflix series The Abadons and films such as Snack Shack and Damsel.
