White House Sparks Backlash With Bizarre AI Video of Trump as Green Lantern

The White House has sparked a wave of reactions online after sharing an AI-generated video showing President Donald Trump as the superhero Green Lantern.

The short video was posted on the official White House account on X as HBO’s new series Lanterns continues its run. The show follows Green Lantern characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart, making the timing of the post hard to miss.

In the AI video, Trump is shown wearing a glowing green power ring and using its abilities to create a huge border wall. Other scenes show him near a massive construction site and military aircraft. The video ends with Trump posing as if he were the superhero himself.

The post also uses the famous Green Lantern oath: “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might beware my power… Green Lantern’s light!”

The video was also set to Kanye West’s song “Flashing Lights,” adding another unexpected element to the White House post.

The Daily Beast reported on the video and highlighted several strange details in the AI-generated footage. One of the most noticeable mistakes is that the Green Lantern ring appears in the middle of Trump’s hand instead of on a finger.

The White House post came during a much larger burst of AI-generated content from Trump and his administration.

Trump also shared several unusual AI images and videos on his Truth Social account. One showed him alongside George Washington inside the Oval Office. Another showed Trump changing a sign for New Mexico to “New America” before dancing.

Trump also posted an AI image showing him aboard an aircraft carrier while ships were being attacked. Another image showed him smashing a piece of land representing Iran with a giant hammer carrying an American flag.

Some of the other AI material appeared to borrow heavily from popular movies and fictional worlds. Trump shared designs for Space Force uniforms that appeared similar to the uniforms worn by characters from the Star Wars Galactic Empire.

He also shared a fake image of actor Robert De Niro holding a shirt that said, “Trump is my president.” De Niro has been a vocal critic of Trump, and it was unclear whether Trump knew the image was fake when he posted it.

The Green Lantern video quickly became a target for critics online. Former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger mocked the post, writing: “This is some of the stupidest c–p I’ve ever seen. It’s actually funny and pathetic.”

Democratic strategist Jon Cooper also criticized Trump, writing: “Trump is a total nut job. Anyone who still supports him at this point is as crazy as he is.”

The reaction shows how quickly AI-generated political content can turn into a viral talking point. With Lanterns now airing and the White House continuing to use AI images in its social media posts, the unusual Green Lantern video has become one of the latest examples of politics and pop culture colliding online.
