Why Agatha’s Pet Rabbit Might Be the Most Dangerous Character in the Show
‘Agatha All Along’ recently premiered with its first two episodes, and so far, the show lays a solid introduction for several notable characters for the future of the MCU. Considering that Agatha’s first solo venture into the MCU is focused primarily on witchcraft, we’ve already been teased by hints that characters such as Blackheart, Mephisto, and Hulkling might be introduced at some point.
One character however was teased back in ‘WandaVision’ and now everything points to it being one of the most dangerous we’ve seen so far – it’s Agatha’s pet rabbit Señor Scratchy.
Señor Scratchy debuted in ‘WandaVision’ episode 2, Agatha gave Wanda the rabbit for her magic act at Westview’s talent show, which was held to raise funds for Westview Elementary School.
Since then, Scratchy has been featured in several episodes but his role wasn’t all that big, and now that is bound to change, at least if our theories are correct. In one of the scenes in episode 1 of ‘Agatha All Along,’ Agatha, unaware of who she is, ventures into the empty room in her house which is decorated as a kid’s bedroom with occult imagery. One written name can be seen in the room “Nicholas Scratch.”
In the comics, Nicholas is Agatha’s son and they have a troubled history, to say the least. They were both part of New Salem, a secretive town of witches and warlocks hidden from the world. Agatha was the town’s original leader. Nicholas’s name combines elements from English folklore, specifically “Old Nick” and “Mr. Scratch,” which are alternative names for the Devil.
Scratch betrayed his mother after she left New Salem to live a normal life. Nicholas led a group that abducted Agatha and nearly executed her. Although Agatha was rescued and New Salem turned against Nicholas, he was eventually exiled to the Dark Realm.
There, he became a servant of Dormammu, aiming to become the Sorcerer Supreme. Recently, Nicholas allied with Mephisto, Marvel’s equivalent of the Devil, and Mephisto is heavily rumored to be included in ‘Agatha All Along.’
Now there are theories that claim that Locke is in reality, Nicholas, despite all other hints claiming that he is Billy Maximoff aka Wiccan (including the subtitles.) It’s also quite possible that Señor Scratchy is Agatha’s son, and he became a rabbit due to a spell gone wrong or something like that, which is why the rabbit is featured prominently in the show despite having no role whatsoever in it.
It’s likely that Agatha did something in the past that turned her son into a rabbit, and it’s also quite likely that Rio Vidal is somehow connected to it, as Aubrey Plaza teased that Agatha and the Green Witch had a relationship and their past is complicated.
