Since his appearance in ‘Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace,’ Darth Maul has been a prominent villain in the Star Wars universe. Appearing in both ‘Star Wars Rebels’ and ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars,’ Maul has left his mark on the galaxy.  He has encountered many of our favorite characters in the past, like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ashoka Tano. After Ahsoka’s and Maul’s battle during the Siege of Mandalore, they meet again briefly in ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ but so far, we know of no other encounters. This begs the question, will Darth Maul appear in ‘Ahsoka’?

Due to his death in ‘Star Wars Rebels, ’ we will not see a version of Darth Maul in ‘Ahsoka’ that is alive. However, due to their encounters in the past, we may see him in a flashback to the Siege of Mandalore or even flashbacks to his appearance with the rest of the Ghost Crew.

Now that we have briefly discussed whether or not we will see Darth Maul, let’s analyze it in more detail. If you’re interested in what kind of flashbacks Darth Maul may appear in, stay with us and keep reading!

MAUL 2

To predict any future appearance, we must look at the first time we met the character. When we first met Darth Maul, he was completely different from anything we had seen before in Star Wars. Maul was the type of character who just looked like pure evil.

Given a red face with horns and full black robes, Maul had this devilish appearance to him. His scary appearance and double-edged lightsaber made the Sith Lord of few words memorable among fans.  While he did not have any contact with Ahsoka at this point, as it is unlikely she was even born, he did face off against Obi-Wan, who would then go on to train Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka’s master.

At the end of the film, Maul gets into a grueling battle with both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn. After killing Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan cuts Maul in half, which causes him to fall down the shaft. After his defeat, fans presumed Maul was dead until his return in ‘The Clone Wars.’

Maul Clone Wars

After ‘The Phantom Menace,’ fans had just presumed that Darth Maul was dead.  That is until season 4 of ‘The Clone Wars’ when Maul’s brother, Savage Opress, finds that Maul could still be alive and goes off to find him. When we meet him again, he has big robotic spider legs to replace the ones he lost and is deluded. Once he regains his sanity, he trains his brother in the way of the force, who was then killed by Palpatine.

During the war, Maul had managed to take over Mandalore and used this as perfect revenge against Obi-Wan. Kenobi had developed feelings for Satine Kryze, who was supposed to be the ruler of Mandalore, but after killing her with the Darksaber, Maul was able to get revenge on Obi-Wan and forcefully take over Mandalore.

While Maul is ruling Mandalore, he foresees Order 66 and figures out that Anakin Skywalker has been groomed to become Sidous’s new apprentice. After seeing this as the perfect chance to stop the Empire from taking over and also to kill his arch-enemy, Obi-Wan, Maul tries to lure the two Jedi to him.

Maul vs Ahsoka

Instead of Anakin and Obi-Wan showing up, Ahsoka turns up instead. Before this point, these two characters had never met and just knew each other by name. Maul tries to convince Ahsoka of Anakin’s impending turn, but she doesn’t believe him, and the two of them get into a grueling battle.

Once the battle is over, Ahsoka puts Maul in a cell but then breaks him out later to escape Order 66 with Captain Rex. This would be the last time the two meet until ‘Star Wars Rebels.’

Darth Maul in ‘Star Wars Rebels’

Darth Maul is a major villain in the second and third seasons of ‘Star Wars Rebels.’ After tricking Ezra into thinking he’s a friend, Maul tricks the Ghost Crew into helping him find the Sith Holocron. He and Ahsoka are reunited, and Ahsoka reluctantly works with him. However, she then goes to fight Vader, who she starts to realize slowly is Anakin Skywalker

In season 3 of the show, Maul finally meets his end at the hands of Obi-Wan in the episode ‘Twin Suns.’ We find out that Maul has been using Ezra to find Obi-Wan, and when the two eventually meet again, Kenobi is able to end Maul in one quick stroke.

Will we see Darth Maul in ‘Ahsoka’?

Due to Maul’s death, we won’t be seeing any version of him that is alive during the series. However, due to the history between the two characters, we may see flashbacks to their interactions in the past if it has anything to do with the current plotline. Ray Park returned to do the motion capture for Maul in the final season of ‘The Clone Wars, ’ so to see him in live action again would be an absolute treat to the fans.
