‘X-Men ’97’ was a massive success for the studio, the show premiered with 100 % on Rotten Tomatoes and the critical opinion of both the fans and critics was that it’s a faithful adaptation of the original ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ which aired back in the ’90s.

With X-Men in general trending for the last few weeks, there’s plenty of talk among the fans who are excited for the upcoming X-Men live-action reboot which is meant to introduce the team to the MCU.

We’ve already covered that fans are calling for Beau DeMayo to be reinstated as Marvel Studios writer, following a massive success of episode 5, some even pointed out that DeMayo should be involved with the live-action reboot, due to his extensive knowledge of the team and his passion to bringing their stories to screen. Well, the invitation just extended to the rest of the showrunners.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Chase Conley and Emi Yonemura, directors of several X-Men ’97 season 1 episodes, were asked about their interest in participating in the upcoming X-Men movie for the MCU. While no discussions have occurred, they shared their thoughts on transitioning from animating X-Men to live-action, and they had a delightful answer:

Chase Conley (Director of episodes 2, 4, 6): If that’s a call that we get, at some point, I’m gonna pick the phone up, for sure.

Emi Yonemura (Director of episodes 3, 5, 7, 9): I would never say no to that phone call because I love a good challenge, and I love trying new things.

While this certainly seems like a brilliant time to introduce our favorite mutant team to the MCU the rumors are a bit more bleak in nature.

Despite fans’ eagerness for a significant and swift inclusion of X-Men, especially following the premiere of X-Men ’97, it seems that their debut in the MCU won’t happen anytime soon. According to Alex Perez in a recent Q&A, the notable team’s debut is expected to be a while away.

Recently, Production Weekly indicated that production for ‘X-Men’ is slated to begin in late 2025, confirming previous reports. This timeline, although quite distant, aligns with earlier speculations. What are your thoughts on this news? Share in the comments below!
