X-Men ’97 Star Lenore Zann Reacts to Animated Avengers: Doomsday Rumors — “This Would Be Cool”

Fans of Marvel’s X-Men ‘97 got excited after hearing that the animated heroes might show up in Avengers: Doomsday. Now, one of the show’s biggest stars, Lenore Zann, who voices Rogue, has shared her thoughts — and she’s all in.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Zann responded to the rumor that characters from Marvel’s animated shows, including X-Men ‘97, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and What If…?, could appear in Avengers: Doomsday. This massive crossover film is set for 2026 and will feature both live-action and animated Marvel heroes from different universes.

Zann reacted with excitement and even called out Marvel Studios directly: “Well this would be cool, wouldn’t it? Imagine if ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ were to make an appearance? Marvel Studios can you pls make that happen?

This hopeful comment came after rumors that Marvel is exploring ways to bring its animated characters into the multiverse mix — similar to what we’ve seen in movies like Space Jam and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, where live-action and animated characters share the screen.

So far, Avengers: Doomsday already has a huge confirmed cast. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said the 27 actors already announced are “just the tip of the iceberg.” That cast includes iconic X-Men characters like Cyclops, played by James Marsden, and Magneto, played by Ian McKellen.

And they’ll be fighting none other than Robert Downey Jr.’s version of Doctor Doom — one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel universe.

Fans have also noticed how X-Men ‘97 has become a major hit. The series, which premiered on March 20, 2024, is the first X-Men project made by Marvel Studios since they got the full rights back.

It continues the story of the classic ‘90s cartoon but with updated animation and deeper storytelling. The first season received strong praise from critics and fans. Season 2 is set for 2026, and a third is already in the works.

Animation for the series comes from Studio Mir and Tiger Animation. Although head writer Beau DeMayo was fired after completing Seasons 1 and 2, writer Matthew Chauncey took over for Season 3 in mid-2024.

If Marvel does go through with adding animated characters to Avengers: Doomsday, it could be one of the biggest and wildest crossovers ever. And it’s clear that Zann — and fans — are ready.

Whether it happens or not, one thing’s for sure: hearing Rogue’s iconic Southern drawl alongside the Avengers would definitely be cool.
