‘Yellowjackets’ Star Sophie Thatcher Stuns in a Sculptural Gold Dress in Newly Shared Photos
Few young actors have carved out a lane as distinctive as Sophie Thatcher’s. She has moved from prestige TV to horror to music and high fashion, and she has become one of Hollywood’s most watchable rising stars. That mix of edge and elegance is why people keep paying attention to whatever she does next.
Her past few days have been especially busy. Thatcher walked the red carpet at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on October 17, and she turned 26 the very next day.
Now a fresh set of images is making the rounds, and they show off her range. The first is a behind-the-scenes shot of her long, dark waves being styled by a hand that reaches in from the side, with soft makeup and a white strapless top. The second is a full-length portrait in a sculptural metallic gold dress with a fluted, corset-like bodice and a dramatic ruffled skirt.
The pairing tells a neat story, going from relaxed prep to full editorial glamour. It also fits her growing reputation as a fashion darling, which includes fronting Valentino’s Fall 2025 campaign. She was also in the front row at the Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week on October 6.

Thatcher’s rise began with ‘Yellowjackets’, the Showtime series that made her a fan favorite as the teenage version of Natalie. She then took lead roles in the horror films ‘The Boogeyman’ and ‘Heretic’, along with the sci-fi thriller ‘Companion’, which earned her a Critics’ Choice Super Award. Forbes put her on its 2026 30 Under 30 list for Hollywood and Entertainment.
She is also a working musician. Thatcher released a debut EP in 2024, and she gave her first live performance at a Prada Mode installation at the Hotel Chelsea this year, a moment that signaled how seriously she takes her music.

Her latest film is ‘Her Private Hell’, a neon-soaked sci-fi thriller from director Nicolas Winding Refn, his first feature since ‘The Neon Demon’ in 2016. Thatcher stars as Elle opposite Charles Melton, Havana Rose Liu and Kristine Froseth. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18 to a standing ovation reported at 7 minutes or longer.
Neon released the film in the US on July 24, though it reportedly earned just $1.2 million at the box office. Early critical reaction was mixed, which isn’t unusual for Refn’s boundary-pushing style.

The film has landed at an interesting point in her career. A profile in Cultured describes Thatcher as considering an onscreen hiatus as ‘Yellowjackets’ wraps after 4 seasons, and as stepping away from horror. If she does take a break from the genre that made her famous, the music and fashion worlds are ready to welcome her.

Don’t count her out of the screen just yet. She is attached to ‘Cavendish’, an action-thriller set during the witch hunts of 1645, in which she plays a young bride accused of witchcraft on her wedding day. Erin Kellyman and Joe Alwyn co-star, with Christopher Andrews writing and directing.
Whatever she chooses next, Thatcher continues to make bold, memorable choices both on screen and on the red carpet.
