Marshals is already moving full speed into Season 2, and according to star Logan Marshall-Green, the story will continue immediately after the dramatic Season 1 finale.

The hit CBS series, which comes from the world of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone franchise, has quickly become one of the biggest shows on television. The series currently averages around 26.5 million viewers across CBS and Paramount+, making it one of the most-watched programs on both broadcast and streaming.

Season 1 ended with several major storylines hanging in the balance. Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, started thinking about selling East Camp, the property that represents his final connection to the Dutton family legacy. At the same time, Deputy Marshal Pete “Cal” Calvin finally opened up about a serious health condition that could change his future forever.

Speaking with TV Insider, Marshall-Green shared new details about what fans can expect when the show returns. He confirmed that production on Season 2 is already beginning and said the cast and crew are jumping straight back into the action.

“We’re dogging, right out of the gate, about seven, eight pages a day,” Marshall-Green said.

He also revealed that the next season begins exactly where Season 1 ends.

“Season 2 will pick up right where we left off, literally and figuratively. No rest for the wicked,” he explained.

Marshall-Green also teased that the Season 1 finale includes a surprising twist that even caught him off guard while reading the script.

The fast production schedule is not unusual for a network drama like Marshals, but filming seven or eight script pages a day is still considered intense. Unlike streaming shows that can take longer between seasons, network series usually work on tighter schedules in order to stay ready for weekly television releases.

CBS clearly has confidence in the show’s future. During its recent upfront presentation, the network confirmed that Marshals will return to its Sunday night 8 p.m. slot for the Fall 2026 television season. The series will once again air alongside another successful CBS drama, Tracker.

One of the biggest questions heading into Season 2 is Cal’s health. In a recent episode, Cal told fellow marshal Belle Skinner, played by Arielle Kebbel, that he has a pancoast tumor in his lung. The diagnosis is potentially life-threatening and adds a much more emotional layer to the character moving forward.

Marshall-Green explained that this storyline was something showrunner Spencer Hudnut specifically wanted to explore. The actor also hinted that Cal’s military background connects closely to the illness and the emotional struggles that come with it.

Fans are also hoping for more crossover moments within the Yellowstone universe. There have already been discussions about Kayce reuniting with his sister Beth, played by Kelly Reilly, and her husband Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser. Hudnut and Reilly have both teased the possibility of those characters appearing together again in the future.

Hauser has even said he would rather see Rip return to Montana for a crossover than have Kayce travel to Texas, where the newer spinoff Dutton Ranch is set.

For now, viewers will have to wait and see what happens to Cal and whether he can continue leading the U.S. Marshals team. But based on Marshall-Green’s comments, Season 2 is not slowing down anytime soon.
