Zendaya’s Shanghai Premiere Look Might Be Her Most Method-Dressed Moment Yet & Fans Love It

Red carpet fashion has become just as much a part of the ‘Spider-Man’ rollout as the film itself, and one particular star has turned the entire press tour into her own personal runway. Every stop on this global tour has delivered a fresh look, each one somehow finding a new way to nod toward the world of Peter Parker.

That streak continued in a major way this week as the promotional circuit for ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day’ made its way to China. With the film’s release now just days away, Zendaya arrived in Shanghai ready to deliver what may be her most striking look of the entire tour so far.

Zendaya attended the Shanghai premiere of ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day’ wearing an archival Atelier Versace gown pulled from the label’s spring 2016 couture collection, styled once again by her longtime collaborator Law Roach. The two-toned design combined off-white draped fabric with sheer, cobweb-inspired black netting, giving the entire look a spider silk quality that fit perfectly within the actress’ ongoing method dressing approach to this press tour.

The gown featured asymmetric draping gathered at the bust and one shoulder, contrasted by illusion cutouts and a caged, web-like texture running through the sheer paneling. A thigh-high slit and a rope detail on the opposing shoulder added further movement to the design, while white strands of fabric stretching from her hip subtly formed the shape of a spider, whether by deliberate design or happy coincidence.

Roach completed the ensemble with a diamond spider brooch from Chopard, centered around a nineteen-carat yellow sapphire that made the accessory appear almost alive against the gown’s stark black and white palette. She rounded out the look with a Rolex Lady Datejust, small diamond stud earrings, and her engagement ring from Jessica McCormack, keeping the remaining accessories minimal against such a striking dress.

Beyond the gown itself, Zendaya also debuted a brand new hairstyle for the occasion, stepping out with micro bangs paired with her long tresses for the very first time on this press tour. That styling choice quickly became just as talked about as the dress itself, with outlets noting the timing given her recent marriage to co-star Tom Holland.

This latest look continues a pattern that has defined Zendaya’s entire promotional run this year. Throughout the ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day’ press tour, she has repeatedly woven spider web motifs into her outfits, previously incorporating the theme through earrings, a vintage Armani dress and a chainmail detail on the back of a John Galliano gown.

That same commitment to theme has carried over into her separate press run for ‘The Odyssey,’ where she has embraced a more goddess inspired aesthetic tied to her character Athena, including an angel winged gown from Matieres Fecales worn at the New York premiere earlier this month. Between both films, Zendaya’s 2026 press tour has become a genuine showcase of her longstanding collaboration with Roach.

With ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day’ set to hit theaters on July 31, this Shanghai stop marks one of the final major red carpet moments before the film’s wide release finally arrives. Given how consistently she has delivered standout looks throughout this entire rollout, expectations remain high for whatever she wears next.
