‘Zootopia 2’ Set to Break Huge Box Office Record With Explosive Opening
Zootopia 2 is heading for a huge start at the global box office, with early numbers showing far stronger results than expected. Industry projections, shared through multiple box office trackers, show that the animated sequel is building momentum in a way few analysts predicted, especially in China, where Hollywood releases have struggled in recent years.
Before its first full weekend even began, the movie had already crossed the 100-million-dollar mark worldwide. Early estimates place the film at around 80 million dollars in China alone and another 80 million dollars in the United States. With more markets added into the mix, Zootopia 2 could reach as much as 550 million dollars worldwide by Sunday, according to the same sources.
If it reaches those numbers, the film would enter the top tier of the biggest opening weekends in movie history. That would put it ahead of major titles like Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Captain Marvel and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The record holder remains Avengers: Endgame, which opened to more than one billion dollars globally in 2019.

Zootopia 2 also comes at an important moment for Disney. The studio had mixed results throughout the year, even though its Lilo & Stitch remake was the only Hollywood movie to pass one billion dollars in 2024.
Other major projects, such as Captain America: Brave New World and Snow White, failed to reach expectations. Because of that, Zootopia 2 is now being seen as a turnaround title, especially with Avatar: Fire and Ash set to follow in December.
As of November 28, official box office updates list the sequel at 133.2 million dollars worldwide, with about 59.2 million dollars coming from domestic theaters and 74 million dollars from international markets.
