Robin Wright, the actress known for Forrest Gump, The Princess Bride, and House of Cards, has left the United States and moved to the United Kingdom. Speaking with The Times, Wright explained that she has been working in the U.K. for several years and loves her new home.

“America is a ****show,” she said, though she clarified her comments were not political and did not involve former President Donald Trump, unlike other celebrities who have left the country. Wright said she enjoys the slower pace and calm of life in the U.K.

“There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind. They’re living. They’re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That’s most of America. Everything’s rush, competition and speed,” she said.

Wright, 59, described how life in California used to feel noisy and hectic. She would often wake up to construction at her neighbors’ houses. “Everyone’s building a huge house and I’m just done with all that — I love the quiet,” she said. In the U.K., she wakes up to birds singing and enjoys the peace around her.

The actress is staying busy professionally. She will appear in the thriller The Girlfriend on Prime Video and is directing a few episodes. When asked about her former House of Cards co-star Kevin Spacey, who was recently found not guilty of sexual assault, Wright said, “I don’t really think we need to talk about Kevin. That was then.”

On the personal side, Wright said she has “met her person” and is dating British-born, Australian-raised architect Henry Smith, whom she met at a country pub. She also plans to take time off and enjoy her life in the U.K.

“It’s liberating to be done,” she said. “Be done with searching, looking and getting 60% of what you wanted.”

Wright’s move highlights her desire for a calmer, more balanced lifestyle, away from the rush and competition she experienced in the U.S. Her decision to relocate seems to be about personal peace, freedom, and enjoying life on her own terms.

Personally, I think it’s inspiring to see someone prioritize their happiness and well-being over staying in the spotlight. What do you think about Wright’s move and her thoughts on life in the U.K.? Share your thoughts in the comments.
