C fans heading into “Supergirl” may be wondering one important thing before they leave the theater: should they stay until the very end of the credits?

The answer, at least for now, appears to be no. According to reports from press screenings, “Supergirl” does not include a mid-credits or post-credits scene. Multiple attendees who saw the movie early have said there is no extra scene waiting after the credits finish rolling.

However, some fans are still wondering if that could change once the movie officially arrives in theaters. Studios sometimes keep surprise scenes hidden from early screenings to avoid major spoilers leaking online. This has happened before with superhero movies, where secret cameos or important setup moments were kept away from critics before release.

Because “Supergirl” is part of the new DC Universe created by DC Studios leaders James Gunn and Peter Safran, some viewers expected the film to include a connection to future projects. The movie is part of the DCU’s first chapter, titled “Gods and Monsters,” and follows the beginning of a new era for DC films.

Still, if no changes are made before release, audiences likely will not need to wait through the credits for an additional scene.

The film introduces Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. Alcock first became known worldwide for her role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in “House of the Dragon,” and she is now taking on one of DC’s most famous heroes.

Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, “Supergirl” is inspired by the comic book story “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The movie follows Kara as she travels through space with her dog Krypto while dealing with a painful event that sends her on a personal journey for revenge.

The official story follows Kara celebrating her 23rd birthday while trying to find her own path away from Earth and the shadow of Superman. During her travels, she meets Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young girl whose tragedy changes the direction of Kara’s mission.

The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet as Superman, and Jason Momoa. The movie is produced by Gunn and Safran through DC Studios.

“Supergirl” represents a major change for the character after Sasha Calle played a different version of Kara in the 2023 film “The Flash.” The new movie is not connected to the previous DC Extended Universe storyline and instead begins a fresh version of the DC world.

The project has been in development for several years. After Gunn and Safran took over DC Studios in 2022, plans for the character changed, leading to the new film being created as part of the rebooted universe.

While superhero fans have become used to staying until the final seconds for hints about future movies, “Supergirl” may be taking a different approach. For now, audiences can simply enjoy Kara’s story without expecting a hidden scene after the credits.
