Netflix is set to welcome Solar Opposites later this month, bringing the hit animated series from Hulu to a new audience.

The show, which follows the adventures of an alien family trying to adapt to life on Earth, will arrive on Netflix on September 28th. First debuting in 2020, the series has already released five seasons, with the final season scheduled to premiere on Hulu on October 13th. At this time, it’s unclear how many of the show’s seasons Netflix will stream and whether the final season will also make the jump.

Co-creator Mike McMahan shared his thoughts on the move, joking about the series’ ending. “We woke up one day and we said to ourselves, ‘We’ve been cancelled forcefully by the network, so we should probably make this the last season. We could keep doing it, but since nobody will be paying us to do it, it would be pretty rudimentary. The artists need to eat and have medicine.’”

He also teased what fans can expect from the final season. “We knew this was going to be our final season going into it, but we think of it as like the end of our first chapter or something. So you get a lot of cool culmination of long-running jokes, storylines like The Wall, Silver Cops, and it’s all in.”

Executive producer Josh Bycel added that the team didn’t initially know the series would end with this season. “We actually didn’t totally know that it was going to be the last season, but it’s done in a way that I think, as Mike said, could be the end of the first chapter. But we really were able to bring the Silver Cops, The Wall, all back at the end of the day, the Solars.”

Hulu has released an official description for the final season, promising plenty of laughs alongside the series’ signature chaos. “Witness the wild chaos of this unhinged alien family as they get into hilarious mischief, all while the final chapter of an epic drama unfolds for the shrunken people they’ve imprisoned in their Wall. As the ‘Solar Opposites’ navigate their unforgettable farewell, expect laugh-out-loud surprises at every turn.”

This move gives a new generation of viewers the chance to catch up on Solar Opposites before its finale.

The series has built a reputation for combining wild comedy with clever sci-fi, and Netflix subscribers will soon have full access to the antics of Korvo, Yumyulack, Terry, and Jesse.

I think bringing Solar Opposites to Netflix is a smart move. The show has a unique mix of humor and sci-fi that fits perfectly on the platform, and it gives more people a chance to see the series before it ends.
