Mark Ruffalo Spotted on Set of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
Mark Ruffalo has been spotted on set of the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day, giving fans their first glimpse of the actor returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film, co-produced by Marvel Studios and Columbia Pictures and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, is set to be the 38th MCU installment and the fourth Spider-Man movie in the series following 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, joined by Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III, and Ruffalo. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for release in the U.S. on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.

Principal photography began on August 3, in Glasgow, Scotland, under the working title Blue Oasis. The Jackie Chan Stunt Team, returning from Shang-Chi, coordinated fight sequences for the film.
The Glasgow shoot included locations like Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate, which are standing in for New York City in the movie. Set photos revealed armored vehicles marked with a red demon logo, which some fans speculate could hint at the villain Mister Negative.
Other references, like a rhinoceros-shaped bust, suggest the inclusion of the comic book character Rhino. Filming also took place at Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, England, and at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire for soundstage work.
Despite being seen on set, Ruffalo recently told GQ that he still has not read the script. Ruffalo’s appearance has sparked excitement among fans who have been eager to see the Hulk return to the big screen alongside Spider-Man.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has faced some challenges during production. Tom Holland suffered a mild concussion in September while filming a stunt, causing a temporary pause in Pinewood Studio shoots. Production continued in Basingstoke, England, where Holland joined other cast members, including Michael Mando.
Seeing Ruffalo on set gives hope that the Hulk may have a more active role in the film, even if the details remain under wraps. His return adds a layer of anticipation, especially for fans of the broader MCU.
