Marvel fans are getting a new look at the upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man, set to premiere on January 27, 2026, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for his work on HBO’s Watchmen and the Aquaman films.

To build excitement, Marvel has released an in-universe promo featuring Sir Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery teaching “The Slattery Method,” a fictional acting class that has also appeared in ads across social media and in select cities. Fans can sign up via text to receive the teaser for the class.

Abdul-Mateen described the series to Empire as being unlike any previous Marvel project. “We’re doing something that, tonally, feels much different than really any other Marvel show, or any other films,” he said. “We’re doing something that’s fresh, and a bit tongue-in-cheek, a bit self-aware.”

The show follows Simon Williams, played by Abdul-Mateen, as he competes for a role in a reboot of the fictional Wonder Man film franchise. While the series includes humor and commentary on superhero fatigue, Abdul-Mateen emphasized that the story is ultimately about the characters’ personal journeys and friendships.

“The show is self-aware, without looking directly into the camera. There’ll be commentary about superhero fatigue and things like that, but to me, it’s just dressing. That’s not really the aim of the show. The focus of the show is about an actor’s journey. It’s about a journey of friendship,” he explained.

The teaser and promotional materials give fans a playful look into Trevor Slattery’s eccentric teaching style, blending Marvel’s signature superhero world with meta-humor and character-driven storytelling.

From what has been revealed, Wonder Man promises a mix of comedy, self-aware commentary, and the classic Marvel charm, offering something new for the MCU in 2026.
