Roman Reigns has finally shown fans how he will look as Akuma in the new Street Fighter movie, and the first image has made a big impact online. Reigns posted the picture on his social media on December 11, giving everyone their first clear look at his version of the famous Capcom villain.

The image comes from the movie’s first trailer, which premiered during The Game Awards.

In the picture, Reigns looks fully turned into Akuma. He has long, sharp dark hair, bright red eyes, a thick rope and beads around his neck, and a sleeveless gi with a large kanji symbol on the back.

The design stays close to how the character looks in the games, with the same dramatic style fans know well. His glowing eyes and powerful stance make him look like he stepped right out of the game. Many fans have pointed out that he looks dangerous enough to pull off Akuma’s famous attack, the Raging Demon.

The movie itself is directed by Kitao Sakurai, with the script written by Dalan Musson. This new film is a full reboot of the Street Fighter live-action series. The cast includes Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, Eric André, Vidyut Jammwal, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Jason Momoa.

Legendary Entertainment bought the rights to make live-action movies and shows based on Street Fighter in April 2023.

Capcom is also helping produce the project. At first, directors Danny and Michael Philippou were set to lead the film, but they left in June 2024. Sakurai joined the movie in February the next year. Casting began earlier this year, and by summer the main names were all confirmed. Filming started in August and finished in November.

Paramount Pictures plans to release the movie in the United States on October 16, 2026.

The story is set in 1993 and follows Ryu, played by Andrew Koji, and Ken, played by Noah Centineo. The two fighters are pulled back into battle after Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, brings them into the next World Warrior Tournament.

Paramount describes the plot as a tough fight mixed with mystery, danger, and personal struggles. The studio says the film follows the fighters as they face their past and warns viewers, “And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!”
