Brad Pitt has played just about every kind of role over the years, but that does not mean he looks back on all of them with pride. In several interviews, the actor has been open about which movies he loved making and which ones left him frustrated.

Pitt first became a major name in Hollywood after his breakout role in Thelma and Louise in 1991. Since then, he has starred in dozens of films and won an Oscar for playing stuntman Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Still, he has said that success does not erase bad experiences.

One film Pitt clearly regrets is the 1997 thriller The Devil’s Own, where he starred opposite Harrison Ford. In an interview with Newsweek, Pitt said the movie fell apart before filming even really began. We had no script. Well, we had a great script but it got tossed for various reasons, he said. He went on to call the production the most irresponsible bit of filmmaking he had ever been part of. According to Pitt, the lack of planning made the entire experience exhausting and disappointing.

He has also shared mixed feelings about Interview with the Vampire, the 1994 film that became a huge hit. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Pitt explained that while the movie looked great, he felt his character was not handled the way he hoped. The film focused more on the sensational antics of Lestat, he said, adding that his own role felt passive. My character ended up getting dragged place to place, Pitt explained, saying the emotional depth of the character was lost.

On the other hand, Pitt’s favorite projects are not always the most popular ones. He has often said that The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is the film he is most proud of. Even though it struggled at the box office, Pitt defended it in an interview with GQ. My favourite movie is the worst-performing film of anything I’ve done, he admitted. He also said that box office numbers do not define quality. If I believe something is worthy, then I know it will be worthy in time to come.

As of early 2026, Pitt’s career is once again riding high. His racing drama F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski, was released in 2025 and went on to earn over $631 million worldwide. The film recently received a surprise Best Picture nomination for the 98th Academy Awards, according to industry reports.

Pitt is also preparing for his next big project. He will return as Cliff Booth in The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a Netflix sequel written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher. The film is set in the 1970s and follows Booth in a new chapter of his life as a Hollywood fixer. Netflix sources say the movie is expected to premiere later in 2026.
