Timothée Chalamet turned the Paris premiere of his new film Marty Supreme into a night fans will not forget. The event took place at the famous Le Grand Rex cinema, where a huge crowd showed up to see the actor in person. Chalamet arrived in a brown Givenchy suit with sunglasses, leaning into old-school movie star energy as he greeted fans.

But once he was on stage, he decided to be very honest. According to comments he made directly to the audience at the premiere, later shared by French media and fan videos online, Chalamet addressed the high ticket prices.

Some seats reportedly cost up to €50. He told the crowd I know you were charged a lot and made it clear that the prices had nothing to do with me. He added that he would have preferred the screening to be free and joked that he was not getting any of the extra money.

Throughout the night, Chalamet made a strong effort to connect with the local crowd. He spoke in French several times and talked about how much he respects France’s love for cinema. He said the country has a deep film culture and called Marty Supreme a miracle movie, saying it meant a lot to present it in Paris.

Director Josh Safdie also spoke during the event. According to his remarks at the premiere, he said he met Chalamet years ago and immediately saw someone who knew where he wanted to go.

Safdie described him as a young actor who was already focused and driven, even before reaching this level of fame. He said the role was written with Chalamet in mind and believed he was always meant to be at the center of a film like this.

The Paris stop comes during what many see as the biggest year of Chalamet’s career. Marty Supreme has already earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor and an Oscar nomination, based on awards coverage reported earlier this season. The film has also been a major success for A24 and is on pace to become the studio’s highest-grossing movie in North America.

Outside of awards season, Chalamet has kept busy. He is rumored to be lining up a new project called High Side with director James Mangold, where he would play a motocross racer. While in Paris, he also opened a temporary pop-up shop selling exclusive Marty Supreme merchandise for fans.

With awards buzz growing and fans filling theaters across the world, Chalamet’s moment shows no signs of slowing down. Whether he takes home the Oscar or not, his connection with audiences, especially moments like this in Paris, continues to define his rise.
