Halle Berry spent years being one of the most talked-about women in Hollywood, but at one point, she decided she had had enough of the attention. In a recent interview with The Cut, the Oscar-winning actress explained why she mostly stopped doing interviews for almost a decade.

Berry said she grew tired of how the media kept focusing on her love life instead of her work. Over time, the same story kept coming up again and again. She felt she was always being described as a woman who could not find happiness in relationships, no matter what she achieved in her career.

Now approaching 60, Berry looked back on that time and said the headlines about her past marriages became exhausting. She had gone through three divorces, and people often questioned why she could not make a relationship last. Berry made it clear that she never saw it that way. She felt no reason to stay with someone who was not right for her.

During her conversation with The Cut, Berry was asked how she would write her own headline today if she were in control. She answered with strong statements like Halle Berry Is Not a Damsel in Distress and Halle Berry Is Not a Victim of Failed Relationships. Those words showed how firmly she has taken charge of her own story and moved past old labels.

A big part of her confidence today comes from her relationship with musician Van Hunt. The two began dating in 2020 during the pandemic. Berry said their connection grew slowly, starting with four months of phone calls before they met in person. She has called it the best relationship of her life. Although Hunt has already proposed, Berry said they are not rushing to get married because they do not believe a piece of paper defines their bond.

As of February, Berry is also stepping into a very busy time in her career. Her new movie, Crime 101, is set to be released on February 13. The film is directed by Bart Layton and is based on a novella by Don Winslow. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan alongside Berry.

She plays Sharon Colvin, an insurance broker pulled into a dangerous game between a jewel thief and a determined detective. Berry has spoken positively about the experience, especially working with Hemsworth, whom she described as supportive and respectful on set.

Looking ahead, Berry says she has no plans to slow down. She is preparing to produce seven movies and three series in the coming year, and she plans to star in all of them. She has described this stage of her life as a personal mission to create more space for women over 50 in Hollywood.
