Baby Krypto Takes Flight in the New ‘Supergirl’ Super Bowl Teaser
A new Super Bowl teaser for Supergirl has arrived, and the biggest surprise is the first look at Baby Krypto. The short preview, shared as part of the Super Bowl trailer lineup and promoted by DC Studios head James Gunn on social media, gives fans a quick but emotional moment with the young super-powered dog.
Krypto has been part of DC Comics since the 1950s, but he only made his big-screen debut in last year’s Superman movie. Many people believed the character might be too silly for live-action films, but that idea quickly changed after audiences loved him. The character became so popular that reports even linked him to a rise in dog adoptions after the film’s release.

Now the dog is back in Supergirl, which follows Kara Zor-El, played by Milly Alcock. The new film continues the story after the events of Superman, where Kara appeared briefly to pick up her dog. Superman had only been taking care of Krypto while she was gone. The teaser hints that the story will jump between present-day adventures and flashbacks. James Gunn recently shared an image of Krypto as a puppy, and the teaser confirms it with a short but cute scene. At the start of the clip, the small dog runs up to Kara and she lifts him into her arms and asks, “Who are you?”
The movie will follow Supergirl and Krypto as they travel across space on a new adventure. The story is part of James Gunn’s rebuilt DC Universe, and expectations are already high ahead of its release. The film is set to arrive in theaters on June 26, and early reactions suggest Baby Krypto could become a major fan favorite.
The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as the space pirate Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, and Jason Momoa as the bounty hunter Lobo. David Corenswet’s Superman is also expected to appear briefly.
