Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger have one of the most famous rivalries in Hollywood history, full of competition, jokes, and a few shocking moments. Back in the early ’90s, their feud took a hilarious turn when Schwarzenegger tricked Stallone into starring in the 1992 comedy Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.

Schwarzenegger later admitted that he had read the script and knew it was terrible. Instead of ignoring it, he used their rivalry to his advantage. “I read the script, and it was a piece of s**t. Let’s be honest,” Schwarzenegger said. He told Stallone he was considering the role himself and called it a brilliant idea.

Stallone, true to form, jumped at the chance to compete, only to end up in what he now jokes was “maybe one of the worst films in the entire solar system… a flatworm could write a better script.”

Their feud was so intense that it even has its own Wikipedia page. Stallone once said the rivalry felt like “even our DNA hated each other.” But over time, the two action legends moved past the tension and became good friends.

In 2022, Stallone shared his admiration for Schwarzenegger during a Discord AMA. He listed Terminator 2: Judgment Day as his favorite Schwarzenegger movie. He joked, “I said you have the easiest movies in the world to do. You just walk down the middle of the street punching the crap out of everybody, and no one hurts you.”

He also praised True Lies from 1994, calling it “very, very good because it combined everything—the wit, the romantic aspect, the charm, and great action with a great director.” Stallone’s respect for Schwarzenegger now extends far beyond their rivalry, showing how time can turn competitors into collaborators.

Today, both actors remain busy in Hollywood. Stallone is set to release I Play Rocky on November 20, a biopic about his early struggles bringing the original Rocky to life. The film stars Anthony Ippolito as a young Stallone and explores the challenges behind the iconic movie.

Schwarzenegger is also active with upcoming projects, including The Man with the Bag, a buddy action-comedy where he plays Santa Claus teaming up with Alan Ritchson’s character to recover a stolen magical sack. Both actors are showing that even in their 70s, they continue to make films that entertain and inspire.

Over decades, Stallone and Schwarzenegger went from rivals to allies, mentoring younger stars and revisiting classic action roles while keeping their legacy alive. Their story is a mix of competition, humor, and respect that has defined Hollywood action cinema for generations.

Do you think Schwarzenegger’s prank with Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot is the funniest celebrity rivalry moment, or is there another Hollywood feud that tops it? Share your thoughts in the comments.
