Martin Scorsese Joins ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ Cast — Here’s The Role He Is Playing
Fans got a big surprise in the new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu when they spotted none other than Martin Scorsese lending his voice to an alien character.
The Lucasfilm trailer, which comes ahead of the first Star Wars theatrical release in seven years, shows Pedro Pascal’s bounty hunter teaming up with Grogu, also known as Baby Yoda, as they navigate a galaxy full of strange creatures and new enemies.
About 20 seconds into the trailer, fans noticed Scorsese voicing an Ardennian, a four-armed, furry alien who runs a small store and shuts down a conversation with Mando, who is looking for information about one of the Hutts. This isn’t the director’s first voice role — he previously played an anxious pufferfish in Shark Tale (2004).

Fans on Reddit quickly shared their excitement about Scorsese’s cameo. One wrote, “Honestly this trailer actually did get me pretty hyped to see it. Seems like it’s going to be a really fun Star Wars movie and I think that’s really what Star Wars needs right now.”
The film seems to be aiming for a family-friendly vibe, which has some older Star Wars fans hesitant. Still, many parents see it as a perfect chance to introduce their kids to Star Wars on the big screen.
“This is the first new SW theatrical release my kids are old enough to see in cinemas, so I’m excited for it. I think worst case scenario, this will feel like a long episode of the TV show, which means it will still likely be a good time. I’m anticipating a fun popcorn flick, and if it’s more than that, that’s a bonus,” shared one fan.
The movie is directed by Jon Favreau, known for reviving major franchises, including launching the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man (2008) and bringing Star Wars to a new generation with the 2019 series The Mandalorian. The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to hit theaters on May 22.
Scorsese’s unexpected involvement adds an extra layer of excitement to the release. Do you think his cameo will be one of the highlights of the movie? Share your thoughts in the comments.
