Jennifer Garner is a Hollywood star, but at home, she admits she struggles to be “cool” in the eyes of her kids. During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on February 19, the 53-year-old actress said her three children—Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 13—don’t exactly idolize her fame.

Garner joined her castmates from The Last Thing He Told Me and revealed that her kids find her completely cringe. She explained that teenagers are easily embarrassed by their parents, especially when they see them on screen in emotional or romantic scenes. “When I asked if they were going to watch season two, they just asked, ‘Do you need us to?’” she said with a laugh.

The actress joked that she’s now learning how to parent with a button on her mouth, letting her teens make their own choices as she navigates this stage of motherhood. Despite the lack of attention from her children, Garner has found some small wins thanks to her famous friends.

Her son Samuel, who is obsessed with Game of Thrones, has been a little more interested because of co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. She also noted that her kids love “Aunt Judy,” a playful nod to her longtime friend and 13 Going on 30 co-star Judy Greer.

Outside her family life, Garner has stayed busy. She recently returned to the Golden Globes after thirteen years, wearing a black sequined gown that drew major attention. She has also focused on her organic baby food company, Once Upon a Farm, and continues her advocacy for early childhood education.

On the acting front, fans are counting down to the second season of The Last Thing He Told Me, which premiered on Apple TV+ on February 20. Garner reprises her role as Hannah Hall in a story based on the sequel novel The First Time I Saw Him.

In the new season, Hannah and her stepdaughter, played by Angourie Rice, face new challenges when Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s character Owen resurfaces after five years on the run. Garner is also starring in a new Netflix comedy called One Attempt Remaining, directed by Kay Cannon.

The film follows a divorced couple who must retrace a wild night from years ago to recover a lost cryptocurrency password worth millions. She stars alongside John Cena and Kate McKinnon, with filming having started in February.

Additionally, Garner is executive producing and starring in the Peacock limited series The Five-Star Weekend, adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s popular novel. These projects show her versatility, balancing high-stakes streaming thrillers, lighthearted comedy, and entrepreneurial work—all while managing the judgment of her teenage children.

Despite her Hollywood status, Garner remains relatable. She’s navigating fame, business, and parenting while keeping a sense of humor about the challenges of raising teenagers. “I am only embarrassing,” she admitted, acknowledging that her kids’ opinions are often brutally honest but entirely part of the process.
