‘Spider-Noir’ Teaser Reveals First Full Look at Electro as Nic Cage’s Webslinger Takes Down Gangsters
The new teaser for Spider-Noir has given fans a closer look at Nicolas Cage’s dark version of the web-slinging hero. The short promo recently aired on US television and includes fresh footage not shown in the first trailer.
Set in 1930s New York, the Prime Video series follows Ben Reilly instead of the usual Peter Parker. In one new scene, Reilly is seen with bruises on his face. When Cat Hardy, played by Li Jun Li, asks what happened, he casually answers that he “walked into a door.” The clip quickly makes it clear that the real reason is a brutal fight with local gangsters.
The teaser also offers the clearest look yet at Electro. One shot shows Cage’s character being struck with an electrified crowbar. Viewers also get another glimpse of Jack Huston’s Sandman and Brendan Gleeson’s Silvermane, confirming that several well-known villains will appear in the series.

The action scenes show a fast and aggressive Spider-Noir. Cage’s performance blends old-school detective style with over-the-top energy. The actor previously described his take on the character as 70 percent [Humphrey] Bogart, and 30 percent Bugs Bunny. The mix suggests a tough, classic film-noir hero with a strange sense of humor.
Cage already voiced a Spider-Man Noir variant in Into the Spider-Verse, but this live-action role goes deeper. Writer Oren Uziel explained the choice to focus on Ben Reilly instead of Peter Parker in an interview with Esquire. Peter Parker feels very synonymous with a high school kid. Boyish. On his way up. Ben Reilly has already gone through the entire arc and has seen it all, Uziel said.
Spider-Noir will be available in both color and black-and-white versions. The series premieres on Prime Video on May 27. MGM Plus subscribers can watch it early starting May 25.
From what the teaser shows, the series is leaning hard into its gritty tone and comic-book roots. In my opinion, choosing Ben Reilly gives the story a fresh angle and fits Cage’s style better than a younger Peter Parker would. The darker setting and classic noir vibe make it stand out from other Spider-Man projects. What do you think about the new footage and Cage’s take on the character?
