Piers Morgan has built a career around tough interviews, often sitting face to face with controversial and dangerous people.

Over the years, he has spoken to many well-known figures, but one meeting stood out as the most unsettling.

In conversation with GQ Magazine, Morgan explained that the person who made him feel most at risk was not a celebrity, but a convicted criminal named Erin Caffey. He met her while filming a documentary series that focused on women behind bars.

Caffey was only a teenager when she became involved in a shocking crime. The case involved a violent attack on her own family. Her mother and two younger siblings were killed, while her father survived despite serious injuries. The incident left a lasting impact and drew attention across the country.

When Morgan interviewed her in prison, he said the experience felt deeply disturbing. He recalled thinking, “My God, you’re probably the most dangerous person I’ve ever been this close to in my life.” He was struck by how calm she appeared despite what had happened.

During the interview, Caffey spoke about her actions and reflected on them. She said, “I was shocked, angry and hurt… When I look back on it now, this was all just stupid. I mean, for what?” Her comments showed regret, but the situation remained difficult to process.

Morgan also shared another tense moment from his career involving actor Robert Blake. During a live television interview years ago, Blake became aggressive and unpredictable. Morgan said the situation escalated so much that security had to step in. He described it by saying, “It was so bad, the security guys… came onto the studio floor and were all standing there with guns.”

These experiences highlight the risks that can come with interviewing people connected to serious crimes or controversies. While some interviews are just conversations, others can quickly turn uncomfortable or even dangerous.

Stories like this show how complex human behavior can be. Some people may not look threatening, but their actions tell a different story. Interviews like these can help us understand what happened, but they can also feel very unsettling.
