Man Who Targeted Billie Eilish Dies in Train Accident Officials Say
A man who had been arrested for stalking pop star Billie Eilish was killed by a train on Long Island, law enforcement sources and local reports confirm. Prenell Rousseau, 30, died after being struck by a train in Westbury early Wednesday morning. Authorities say he was running near the tracks at the time, and the incident is being treated as a tragic accident.
Rousseau’s troubling history with Eilish goes back to 2020, when he repeatedly showed up at her Los Angeles home without permission. These incidents forced Eilish and her parents to obtain a formal restraining order to protect themselves. Court documents described the man’s actions as “erratic behavior.”
According to those filings, Rousseau arrived at their home seven times in a forty-eight-hour period in early May 2020. On his first visit, he used the front door intercom to ask if Eilish lived there. Even after being told he was at the wrong address, he returned multiple times. The situation escalated to the point that the family had to hire private security.
Eilish recalled one particular incident, saying, “Mr. Rousseau remained on our porch, sat down and began to read a book while also continuing to engage in a periodic monologue.”
The encounters were especially stressful because they happened during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Rousseau often ignored safety measures, touching surfaces like the doorbell and handles without wearing a mask or gloves.
His social media activity also raised concerns, featuring drawings of Eilish along with messages that read, “Anyway — I love u b … that is all.” The accident on Wednesday caused a temporary stop of the train involved, delaying about one hundred passengers.
Commuters were later moved to another line to continue their journeys. This marks a grim end to a long and tense chapter for Eilish and her family regarding their safety and privacy. Despite the unsettling events, Eilish has had a strong start to the year.
She recently won the Grammy for Song of the Year for Wildflower and is preparing for the worldwide premiere of her 3D concert film, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, which is set to release on May 8. The film, co-directed by Eilish and legendary filmmaker James Cameron, captures the energy of her record-breaking tour.
In addition to her music, Eilish has been active in environmental and social causes this year. She donated a significant portion of her tour earnings to organizations focused on climate change and food equity. Fans are also eagerly awaiting news of her next studio album.
The tragic incident involving Rousseau highlights the challenges Eilish has faced in protecting her privacy, but the singer continues to focus on her career, activism, and creative projects while moving forward.
