Actor Michael J. Fox had a strange moment when he unexpectedly saw what looked like his own death report on TV. The mix-up came from CNN, which accidentally aired a tribute segment that made it seem like the actor had passed away.

According to reports and clips that quickly spread online, the segment was meant to look back at his life and career, including his early success on Family Ties and his long fight to raise awareness for Parkinson’s disease.

But the way it was shown caused confusion, with some viewers thinking it was an actual obituary. Fox reacted in his usual calm and humorous way. He took to social media and joked about the situation instead of getting upset.

He wrote, “How do you react when you turn on the TV, and CNN is reporting your death?” He even made light of it by joking about checking if he was still alive, saying he might pour hot water on himself just to be sure. He ended his message by letting fans know he was completely fine.

The network later removed the segment and issued an apology, explaining that it was a technical mistake. They said sorry to Fox and his family for the confusion. Even though the situation caused a brief scare, the tribute itself focused on meaningful parts of his life. It highlighted how he became a strong voice for people living with Parkinson’s and how he used his platform to push for research and support.

Fox has not slowed down at all. He recently appeared in the Apple TV+ series Shrinking, where he acted alongside Harrison Ford. In the show, he plays a character who also has Parkinson’s. Speaking about the role, he said, “I’ll just deal with how I can’t do it in the scene,” explaining that he felt more comfortable letting his real-life condition be part of his performance.

He has also been making public appearances. Just days ago, he showed up at PaleyFest in Los Angeles to support the show and meet fans. Earlier in March, he attended the Actor Awards, where he received a strong reaction from the audience after giving a speech about his life and family.

His work off-screen continues as well. Through his foundation, he is still organizing events to support people living with Parkinson’s and to raise money for research. Events from the Parkinson’s IQ and You series are currently taking place in cities across the United States.

Fans can also see more of his story in the documentary A Future on Stage, which recently started streaming. The film looks at the Back to the Future musical and includes moments where Fox reflects on his past, including his time playing Marty McFly.
