Eric André and John Cena Team Up in First Look at Netflix’s Comedy “Little Brother”
Netflix has revealed a first look at its upcoming comedy “Little Brother,” bringing together Eric André and John Cena in a wild new project that mixes chaos with emotional moments.
The film follows a strange reunion between two characters who share a past that only one of them remembers. André plays Marcus, a man who reconnects with Rudd, played by Cena, years after a brief connection in a mentorship-style program during their youth. While Marcus sees it as meaningful, Rudd has completely moved on and built a structured, controlled life.
Things quickly spiral when Marcus re-enters Rudd’s world. According to André, his character means well but often causes trouble without realizing it. “My heart’s in the right place,” he said, explaining that Marcus struggles with feeling abandoned and tries to find connection in his own way.
The story centers on how Marcus slowly becomes part of Rudd’s family life, forming bonds with his wife and kids while pushing Rudd out of his comfort zone. Cena described his character as someone who has lost sight of what matters most. “Using work and money to fill a hole that should be filled with love and family,” he said.
The idea for the movie came from producer David Bernad, who was inspired by real-life behavior he found frustrating. Writers Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul developed the script around André’s style, with Netflix agreeing to move forward once Cena joined the cast.

Cena said he immediately saw the potential in the project, especially with André leading it. “It was written for Eric, and he just needed a comedic straight face to bounce the absurdity off of,” he explained.
The cast also includes Michelle Monaghan as Rudd’s wife, who becomes more open to Marcus than her husband does. Their dynamic adds another layer to the story, as she begins to question her own relationship. André described their connection in a more comedic way, even joking about one unusual moment in the film, saying, “I talk her into the ancient art of analingus.”
Christopher Meloni also appears in the film as Rudd’s successful older brother, adding tension to Rudd’s already complicated life. Other cast members include Ego Nwodim, Sherry Cola, and Caleb Hearon.
The movie is directed by Matt Spicer, who said he was drawn to the mix of humor and emotional storytelling. He noted that the film balances over-the-top comedy with more grounded moments about relationships and personal struggles.
“Little Brother” is set to release on Netflix on June 26.
This looks like a very chaotic kind of comedy that leans heavily on Eric André’s style, which can be hit or miss depending on the viewer. Pairing that with John Cena’s more structured comedic approach could make for an interesting contrast. It might not be for everyone, but it definitely stands out. What do you think about this kind of comedy? Would you watch it, or does it feel too over the top? Share your thoughts in the comments.
