‘The Boys’: Nathan Mitchell Unpack’s Black Noir’s Final Battle That Ends With Him Being Killed by The Deep
Black Noir is once again out of The Boys, and this time his end comes in a violent clash with The Deep in Season 5 Episode 6, titled “Though the Heavens Fall.” The moment adds another major death to the show’s final season as tensions inside The Seven reach a breaking point.
The conflict starts after Black Noir goes after The Deep following a failed pipeline stunt that caused a massive environmental disaster underwater. Noir believes The Deep is responsible for the damage, while The Deep insists Noir’s actions triggered the destruction. The situation quickly turns into a growing power struggle between the two.
Things escalate when the group gathers for a podcast recording. The Deep reaches his breaking point and attacks Noir. In a sudden and brutal moment, he chokes and then kills Black Noir, ending his life on the spot.
Actor Nathan Mitchell spoke about the storyline in an interview, saying he learned about Noir’s death shortly before filming the episode. He said most of the cast expected major characters would not survive the final season, so the ending did not come as a complete surprise, even if the timing did.
Mitchell also reflected on playing Black Noir across different versions of the character. He pointed out that both versions share a similar theme of lost ambition, with dreams that were never fully realized. In his view, that idea connects the two characters under the mask.
The death marks the second time Black Noir has been killed in the series, following his earlier fate at the hands of Homelander in Season 3. Despite this, Mitchell noted that his time in the role still carried meaning and depth for the story.
Black Noir’s death at the hands of The Deep fits the chaotic direction of the final season, but it also feels like another reminder that The Boys is not holding back at all. The show continues to remove major characters in sudden ways, which keeps the tension high but also makes it hard for any character to feel safe.
