Peacock Develops ‘Fast & Furious’ TV Series — Here’s Everything We Know So Far
A new Fast & Furious television series is officially in development at Peacock, marking the franchise’s biggest move yet into long-form TV storytelling. The news was announced by Vin Diesel during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation in New York, where he appeared on stage alongside Jimmy Fallon. The information comes from the official announcement made at the event.
Diesel spoke about how fans have been asking for more stories from the franchise for years, especially around the legacy characters and their wider world.
“For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more. They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space that Fallon has mastered. And I had to wait till it was right… It became right when Donna Langley started to oversee it all, because that’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family would be protected in the TV space… The news that I have here today is that Peacock is launching four shows from the ‘Fast and Furious’ universe,” Diesel said.
However, despite his statement about multiple shows, sources familiar with the project clarified that only one series is currently confirmed to be in active development at Peacock, with other ideas still in early stages at Universal Television.
Plot details for the upcoming show are being kept secret for now, and there is no official release date. What is confirmed is that the series will expand the Fast & Furious universe while staying true to its core themes of family, loyalty, and action.
The show is being written and executive produced by Mike Daniels, known for work on Sons of Anarchy and Shades of Blue, alongside Wolfe Coleman. Vin Diesel will executive produce through his One Race banner, joined by Sam Vincent, Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Chris Morgan. Universal Television will handle production.
This is not the first time the franchise has moved into television. Netflix previously released the animated series Fast & Furious Spy Racers, which ran for six seasons from 2019 to 2021.
The Fast & Furious franchise itself remains one of the most successful action series in film history, with 11 movies released so far and over $7 billion earned worldwide. The next film, Fast Forever, is currently scheduled for 2028.
