Matthew Lillard’s Role in Upcoming DCU’s ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Reportedly Revealed
There is a new wave of online rumours going around about the upcoming DCU film Man of Tomorrow. Some early reports suggest that familiar actors could be showing up in surprise roles, but nothing has been officially confirmed by the studio.
The speculation mainly points to Kyle Chandler possibly returning as Hal Jordan, while Matthew Lillard is reportedly playing a character named K. Faraday.
King Faraday is a DC Comics secret agent created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino, first appearing in Danger Trail #1 in 1950. He is an ex-soldier who works as a U.S. counter-espionage agent, taking part in spy missions and intelligence operations rather than having any superpowers. Over time, he was later brought into the wider DC Universe, where he worked with groups like Checkmate and even mentored characters such as Nightshade and Bronze Tiger.
Faraday is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, and espionage, making him a highly trained human operative. In alternate versions of DC stories, he has appeared in different roles, including a detective and a government agent tied to metahuman control projects. He has also appeared in animated series like Justice League Unlimited and Young Justice, usually as a government or intelligence figure.
Man of Tomorrow is an upcoming superhero film from writer and director James Gunn. It is part of the new DC Universe and follows the events of Superman. The film brings back David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
It also features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, along with a large supporting cast that includes Skyler Gisondo, Isabela Merced, Frank Grillo, María Gabriela de Faría, and Sara Sampaio.
The story is expected to focus on an uneasy team-up between Superman and Lex Luthor as they face a much bigger threat in Brainiac. The film is produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran under DC Studios.
