Eric Kripke May Have Accidentally Spoiled What Happens to Soldier Boy in ‘The Boys’ Finale
With The Boys heading toward its final episode, fans are trying to figure out how every major character will fit into the ending. One big question has been hanging over the show ever since Soldier Boy returned this season. Now, comments from creator Eric Kripke may have accidentally revealed what happens to Jensen Ackles’ character before the finale even airs.
In the latest episode of the Prime Video series, Homelander finally showed his true plans after killing the President of the United States and fully embracing his god complex. During the chaos, Soldier Boy made it clear he wanted no part in Homelander’s vision for the future. Instead of joining him, he insulted his own son and tried to walk away. That moment quickly turned ugly when Homelander attacked him and placed him back into stasis.
After the episode aired, Kripke spoke with Collider about one specific line from Soldier Boy. Fans noticed the character mentioned “fixing up the old Impala,” which was seen as a nod to Supernatural, the long-running series Kripke created with Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins.
Kripke confirmed the reference was intentional. But while explaining the scene, he may have revealed something much bigger. “Knowing that that was going to be Jensen’s last scene in the series, we wanted to put in one last reference,” Kripke said. He also explained that the line originally mentioned a Ford before being changed later during editing. “Phil was like, ‘Should it be ‘Impala’?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, it probably should be ‘Impala.’”
That comment immediately got fans talking online because it strongly suggests Soldier Boy will not return in the finale at all. Until now, many viewers believed The Boys or even Homelander could wake him up one last time for a final battle. Kripke’s statement seems to shut that theory down completely.
Of course, some fans still believe the showrunner could be hiding something. The Boys has pulled surprises before, and there is still a chance Soldier Boy appears in a post-credits moment or another secret scene. But for now, Kripke’s comments make it sound like episode seven was the final goodbye for the character.

Kripke also recently opened up about the pressure of ending a series as massive as The Boys. Speaking on Sony’s “Creator to Creator” podcast, he admitted he feels nervous about delivering a satisfying ending. “I am in a fair amount of terror about a series finale,” he said. “The graveyard is literally filled with terrible series finales.”
He explained that creating a strong ending means finding ways to connect storylines from earlier seasons so everything feels meaningful in the end. Kripke even revealed he learned from the writers of Breaking Bad while preparing for the final season. “We had just a list of loose ends on our board,” he recalled them saying. “And then when it came time to do the final season, we would just start checking them off.”
The Boys finale arrives very soon, and fans are now waiting to see if Kripke truly revealed Soldier Boy’s fate early or if another twist is still coming.
