New ‘The Batman 2’ Set Leaks Tease Gotham Chaos and an Updated Batman Logo
The Batman: Part II has officially started filming, and the first leaked set photos and videos are already giving fans a closer look at Matt Reeves’ next Gotham story. Production is currently taking place in Liverpool, England, which is once again being used as Gotham City for the sequel.
Videos shared online by people near the set show production crews preparing action scenes, moving camera equipment, and setting up police vehicles with Gotham City Police Department markings. Fans also noticed a new red bat logo attached to production gear and vehicles, teasing an updated symbol for the sequel. The darker logo design quickly caught attention online as filming got underway.
One of the leaked clips shows a damaged GCPD car. Another video features Robert Pattinson’s stunt double, Rick English, standing on top of a moving police car while filming an action sequence inside the Birkenhead Tunnel. The footage suggests the sequel will continue the grounded and realistic style seen in the first movie.
According to production details, filming was originally expected to begin earlier but was pushed back while Matt Reeves continued working on the script with co-writer Mattson Tomlin. The screenplay was completed in June 2025, allowing cameras to finally start rolling this summer.
Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne and Batman, with several familiar faces also coming back. Jeffrey Wright reprises his role as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis returns as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell is once again playing Penguin after the success of The Penguin series. Barry Keoghan is also expected to appear again as Joker following his brief appearance in the first film.
The sequel is also expanding its cast with several major new additions. Sebastian Stan has joined the film as Harvey Dent, while Scarlett Johansson will play Gilda Dent. Charles Dance has also been cast as Charles Dent. Other actors joining the project include Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry, though their roles are still being kept secret.

The story will reportedly focus more on Bruce Wayne himself while continuing to explore the corruption and violence spreading through Gotham after the events of The Batman and The Penguin. The movie is expected to keep the same gritty tone that made the first film stand out with fans.
The Batman: Part II is scheduled to release in theaters on October 1, 2027. With filming now officially underway and the first set leaks already online, excitement around Matt Reeves’ next chapter is starting to build fast.
