The showrunner of Off Campus has confirmed some key changes coming in season two, especially around who the story will focus on next.

After the first season focused on Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, played by Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli, the story is now shifting to a new central couple. Showrunner Louisa Levy said that season two will follow Hannah’s best friend Allie Hayes and hockey player Dean Di Laurentis. Allie is played by Mika Abdalla, and Dean is played by Stephen Kalyn.

Levy explained that this pairing was always part of the plan, even if it shows up earlier than some fans expected. She said the decision was made to set up the next main story while the first season was still unfolding.

She said, “I wanted viewers to know who they were going to be tuning in for next.” She added that Allie and Dean’s relationship already exists in a complicated way in the story, so it made sense to bring their dynamic forward instead of waiting.

The show is based on the book series by Elle Kennedy, which follows different couples at Briar University. In the books, Allie and Dean’s story is part of The Score, but the show is moving it into season two instead of keeping it later in the timeline.

Levy said this change was needed because of how the series is structured for television. She explained that even with adjustments, the main romantic beats that fans expect will still be part of the story.

She said, “Some things had to work a little differently because of the timing and the way we platform them, but I promise all the fan-favorite things are still intended and planned. There’s still a lot of road with those two.”

The second season will also introduce more tension in Allie and Dean’s relationship. A new character, Hunter Davenport, played by Charlie Evans, will create conflict between them. He comes from the same social world as Dean, which makes his presence feel natural in the story, but also disruptive.

Levy said Hunter was added to complicate the situation between the two leads and stretch out their slow-burning romance. His arrival is meant to challenge their already messy friends-with-benefits setup.

She explained, “We needed to throw a wrench into Dean and Allie’s arrangement to elongate their story, and pulling from that universe felt right.”

Production on season two is already moving forward. Levy confirmed that all eight scripts have been written and the creative plan for the season is complete, even if full details are still being kept secret.

She said, “I don’t want to say anything yet—but I think book fans will be very excited.”

Author Elle Kennedy also shared updates about another storyline that will appear in the next season. She spoke about the romance between John Logan, played by Antonio Cipriano, and Grace Ivers, played by India Fowler.

Kennedy said she was impressed by the casting chemistry and is looking forward to seeing that relationship on screen. She described Grace as a very unique and awkward character who often says the wrong things when nervous.

She said, “She rambles when she’s nervous and she’s just so random.” She also added, “I’m really excited to see Grace onscreen. I think people will really resonate with her because she is just awkward.”

With new couples, new conflict, and changes to the original book order, season two of Off Campus is shaping up to focus on a different emotional direction while still staying inside the same university world.
