‘Emily in Paris’ Actor Dies at 69, Netflix Fans in Shock

French actor Pierre Deny, known internationally for his role in Netflix’s Emily in Paris, has died at the age of 69. He passed away on Monday due to complications linked to ALS. His death was confirmed by his daughters in a statement released through AFP.

In their message, they shared the news with sadness and explained the cause of his passing. They said, “It is with deep emotion that we announce the passing of Pierre Deny, which occurred this Monday following a sudden and severe case of ALS.”

Deny was part of the cast of Emily in Paris in Seasons 3 and 4, where he played Louis de Léon. His character was the CEO of a luxury fashion company and the father of Nicolas, played by Paul Forman. Nicolas was also connected to Mindy, played by Ashley Park, making Deny’s role part of a key family storyline in the series.

While many international viewers will remember him from Emily in Paris, Deny had a long and busy career in French television and film. He appeared in more than 100 productions across decades of work. His credits include well-known French series such as Une femme d’honneur, Julie Lescaut, L’Instit, Joséphine, ange gardien, Camping Paradis, and Braquo.

He was also widely recognized in France for his long-running roles in soap operas. In Plus belle la vie and Demain nous appartient, he appeared in hundreds of episodes, building a strong presence on French television over many years.

News of his passing comes as Emily in Paris continues production on its upcoming final season. The series recently began filming its sixth season in Greece. Creator Darren Star spoke earlier about the show coming to an end, saying, “Making ‘Emily in Paris’ with this extraordinary cast and crew has been the trip of a lifetime,” and adding, “As we embark on the final season, I am so grateful to Netflix, Paramount, and, most importantly, the fans who have taken this incredible journey with us.”

The show, which became one of Netflix’s most recognizable global hits, is expected to wrap after its final season, marking the end of a major chapter for the cast and crew.

Pierre Deny’s work across French television and international streaming made him a familiar face to many viewers. His career spanned decades, and his roles left a lasting mark on both French audiences and global fans who discovered him through Emily in Paris.
