Chace Crawford has revealed that he once had a loose idea for a spin-off centered on his character, The Deep, also known as Kevin Moskowitz. In the original show, The Deep is one of the more chaotic and controversial members of the Seven, known for his strange mix of arrogance, insecurity, and underwater powers.

Crawford said the idea was not fully developed, but it was something he imagined while working on the series. He described a version of The Deep who would lose everything and end up as a struggling actor instead of a superhero.

He explained the idea in simple terms, saying, “What if he’s a shitty actor and he’s kicked out, a D-List actor. You see him shooting a bad movie like ‘Tropic Thunder’ but it’s like ‘Barry’… He doesn’t have to be fully redeemed but it would be fun to do an half hour comedy.”

The idea was meant to be a darker comedy spin-off that focused on The Deep failing in Hollywood instead of fighting crime or dealing with superhero politics. It would have shown him trying and failing to rebuild his life in a completely different world, far away from The Seven.

However, that idea is no longer possible within the current story direction of the series. The Deep’s story has already come to an end in the final season.

In the series finale, Kevin Moskowitz meets a brutal fate after years of increasingly dark actions. The show ends his arc in a confrontation that takes place in the ocean, where he is attacked by sea creatures he once believed he controlled. His death is framed as the result of all the damage he caused over the course of the series.

The ending also connects to earlier events in the story, including the destruction caused by an oil spill and his betrayal of marine life characters like Ambrosius. These moments built up the idea that the ocean itself had turned against him by the end.

The finale also brings closure to other major storylines in the series, including the final confrontation involving Homelander and Billy Butcher. But The Deep’s ending stands out because it directly ties his downfall to the consequences of his own actions throughout the show.

In the final moments, he is overwhelmed underwater and killed by sea creatures in a violent scene that ends his long-running storyline. The moment is presented as the final result of everything his character had done, both personally and professionally, across multiple seasons.

Before this ending, The Deep was one of the most controversial and unpredictable characters in the show. His actions included serious crimes, personal betrayals, and repeated poor decisions that shaped how other characters viewed him. Because of that, his final fate became a major talking point among fans after the episode aired.

Crawford’s idea for a spin-off now exists only as a what-if scenario. A version of the character trying to survive as a failed actor and public joke could have offered a very different tone from the main series. Instead, the official story gave him a much darker and final conclusion.

Even so, the actor’s comments highlight how much creative space the character once had outside the main storyline. The Deep was always written as both comedic and tragic, which is why ideas like a spin-off comedy version felt believable in tone.

With the series now concluded, that chapter is closed. The Deep’s story ends underwater, while Crawford’s pitch remains an unused idea from behind the scenes of one of television’s most chaotic superhero shows.
