Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ Unveils New Poster & Featurette as Tickets Go on Sale Tomorrow
Universal Pictures has released a new poster and a short behind-the-scenes featurette for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey. The update comes just ahead of tickets going on sale tomorrow, building more excitement around one of the most anticipated movies of 2026.
The featurette does not include any new scenes from the film. Instead, it focuses on interviews with members of the cast and crew, who talk about the scale and ambition of the project. The new poster, however, gives fans a closer look at one of the film’s major dangers, showing Odysseus facing a group of giant cannibal warriors known as the Laestrygonians.
The film is directed by Christopher Nolan and is described by Universal as a large-scale mythic action epic. It is shot across multiple countries and uses new IMAX film technology. The movie brings Homer’s ancient story The Odyssey to IMAX screens for the first time and is set for a global theatrical release on July 17, 2026.
In a statement shared by Universal Pictures, the studio said the film is designed specifically for the big screen experience and emphasized its IMAX format as a key part of the production.
Alongside the new promotional material, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that The Odyssey will also get a special three-week screening run at Westwood’s historic Village Theatre. This will happen before the cinema closes for a major renovation. The arrangement was made between Universal Pictures and the Village Directors Circle, a group of filmmakers led by Jason Reitman, who helped purchase the theater in 2024.
Jason Reitman spoke about the importance of the event and the future of theatrical film experiences. He said, “There are many reasons to go to the movies, but few better than a three-week run of The Odyssey in 70mm at one of the most beautiful movie palaces in the country.”
He added, “This American Cinematheque series is a preview of what we hope the restored Village Theatre will become. A home for great filmmakers, great audiences, and the kind of theatrical experiences that simply can’t be replicated anywhere else.”
Reitman also highlighted Christopher Nolan and producer Emma Thomas, noting their long-standing support for preserving the theatrical experience. According to him, their involvement helped keep the spirit of cinema culture alive during a time when many theaters are struggling.
With Nolan’s version now approaching release, interest continues to build around how the classic epic will be brought to life on a massive IMAX scale. Tickets going on sale tomorrow marks the next big step in the film’s rollout ahead of its July premiere.
