Megan Thee Stallion is bringing one of television’s most recognizable moments back to life.

The rapper and actress was seen filming scenes for Fox’s upcoming Baywatch reboot on June 5 in Long Beach, California. During production, Megan was photographed running across the beach while cameras followed her, recreating the famous slow-motion lifeguard run that helped make the original series a worldwide hit.

The images show Megan leading a group of lifeguards along the shoreline while carrying the classic red rescue float that became closely associated with Baywatch over the years. The scene appears to be a direct tribute to one of the most memorable elements of the original show.

For the shoot, Megan wore an orange patterned bikini along with matching accessories. Other cast members were dressed in the franchise’s traditional red lifeguard uniforms as filming continued on the beach.

The new Baywatch series is being developed by Fox and Fremantle. The project aims to introduce the franchise to a new generation while also honoring key moments from the original show. Based on the latest set photos, producers appear committed to keeping some of the series’ most iconic visuals intact.

The Baywatch franchise remains one of the most successful television brands ever created. The original series became a global phenomenon during the 1990s and turned many of its stars into international celebrities. Its mix of beach rescues, action, drama, and unforgettable slow-motion running scenes became part of pop culture history.

The road to the reboot has been years in the making. According to Deadline Hollywood, discussions about bringing Baywatch back began as far back as 2018 when FremantleMedia International explored the possibility of reviving the property. In 2023, Fremantle officially started developing a new version of the series and held early discussions with broadcasters and streaming platforms.

A major step forward came in March 2024 when Fox Entertainment and Fremantle announced they would work together on the reboot. At the time, Lara Olsen was confirmed as the writer and showrunner.

Fox officially ordered the series in September 2025. The reboot received a 12-episode order and is expected to be part of the network’s 2026-27 television season. Production has been taking place across Southern California, supported by a California tax credit program that awarded the series more than $21 million in incentives.

The cast combines new faces with familiar names from Baywatch history. Earlier this year, Stephen Amell joined the project as an adult version of Hobie Buchannon, the son of legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchannon. David Chokachi was also confirmed to return as Cody Madison, reprising a role he played during the original series.

Additional cast members include Jessica Belkin, Thaddeus LaGrone, Hassie Harrison, Brooks Nader, Noah Beck, Shay Mitchell, and Livvy Dunne. Fox has also brought back original Baywatch stars Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin, Kelly Packard, and Mary McDonnell in various roles.

With filming continuing and new set photos emerging, Megan Thee Stallion’s recreation of the famous beach run offers one of the clearest looks yet at how the reboot plans to blend nostalgia with a modern cast. For longtime fans, it is a familiar image. For newer viewers, it may become their first introduction to one of television’s most famous scenes.
