‘The Odyssey’ Trojan Horse Popcorn Bucket Revealed — The Wildest Way Yet to Sneak Snacks Into the Cinema
Christopher Nolan fans have another unusual collectible to talk about, as a new The Odyssey themed popcorn bucket has been revealed online, and it is already getting attention for its creative design.
According to the official X account for the upcoming film, the new item is a Trojan Horse Popcorn Bucket. The design is inspired by the famous wooden horse from Greek mythology, but with a modern cinema twist. Instead of soldiers hidden inside, the bucket is filled with popcorn, turning one of history’s most famous war tricks into a movie snack container.
The reveal comes shortly after a limited IMAX popcorn bucket tied to the film sold out on its first day of release. That earlier collectible quickly became hard to find, with fans rushing to grab it as anticipation builds for the movie’s release.
The official account shared the new design with a playful tone, leaning into the idea of sneaking snacks into a cinema in the most dramatic way possible. The Trojan Horse concept has sparked jokes online, with fans pointing out how fitting it is for a film based on deception, war strategy, and ancient mythology.
The Odyssey is already shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of 2026. The film is directed and written by Christopher Nolan and is based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem. It follows the long journey of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, as he tries to return home after the Trojan War.
Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, while Anne Hathaway plays his wife Penelope. The film also features a large ensemble cast including Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. The project is produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas through their company Syncopy.
The production has been one of Nolan’s most ambitious to date. Filming took place across multiple countries including Greece, Italy, Morocco, Iceland, and Scotland, along with studio work in Los Angeles. The film also reportedly uses IMAX 70mm cameras throughout, making it one of the largest-scale productions Nolan has ever attempted.
According to production details shared by Universal Pictures and coverage of the project, Nolan began developing the film in 2024 before securing it with the studio later that year. Casting continued into early 2025, with Damon confirmed in the lead role soon after.
The film aims to present a grounded and realistic interpretation of the ancient story, while still keeping the mythological scale of the source material. Early discussions around the film have focused on its visuals, casting choices, and ambitious production approach.
The Odyssey is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 17th July in IMAX and other premium formats. As the release date approaches, marketing continues to lean into creative and unusual promotional items like the Trojan Horse popcorn bucket, keeping fan interest high ahead of its debut.
