Tom Cruise Hails Steven Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’: “Nothing Better”
Tom Cruise is once again showing support for his friends in Hollywood, this time helping celebrate the release of Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fi thriller, Disclosure Day.
As the film opened in theaters, Cruise attended a special screening alongside some familiar faces from Spielberg’s past projects. Joining him were Colin Farrell, who starred with Cruise in Minority Report, and Dakota Fanning, who played his daughter in War of the Worlds. The reunion brought together several actors who have worked closely with Spielberg over the years.
After the screening, Cruise shared his excitement and had nothing but praise for the director and the team behind the movie.
“Nothing better than a summer Spielberg movie night in a packed theater with friends!” Cruise wrote.
He also paid tribute to Spielberg’s long career and the impact his movies have had on audiences around the world.
“Steven thank you for all of the hours of joy that you have given us in the cinema!! It has been a great honor and pleasure to have worked with you and to call you my friend.”
Cruise didn’t stop there. He also congratulated the cast and crew of Disclosure Day, including the film’s lead star Emily Blunt.
“Congratulations to my dear friend Emily and the entire group of artists that created this movie. You were superb. We all loved ‘Disclosure Day’!!”
The comments quickly gained attention online, especially as audiences continue to discuss Spielberg’s latest return to science fiction. According to reports, Cruise attended the screening carrying a unique popcorn bucket that appeared to be shaped like Spielberg’s head, complete with a Disclosure Day-themed cap. The unusual item caught the attention of fans on social media.
The official popcorn bucket released for the movie is quite different. It features a large stag design standing around 16 inches tall, with a cardinal perched on one of its antlers. Cruise’s version appeared to be a custom-made tribute to the legendary filmmaker.

Disclosure Day marks Spielberg’s latest big-screen project and stars Emily Blunt alongside Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. The alien-themed thriller has received positive reviews from critics, with many praising Spielberg’s direction, the visual effects, and John Williams’ musical score.
The support from Cruise is not surprising. Over the years, the actor has developed a reputation for showing up to support fellow actors, directors, and friends. Whether it’s attending premieres, surprising audiences at screenings, or promoting projects on social media, Cruise regularly uses his platform to celebrate the work of others in the industry.
The actor is also preparing for his own return to theaters later this year. Cruise will star in Digger, a new satirical comedy directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. The project is particularly notable because it marks Cruise’s first major non-franchise film since 2017’s American Made. Since then, he has focused almost entirely on the Mission: Impossible series and Top Gun: Maverick.
The evening was more than just a movie screening. It was also a celebration of Spielberg’s legacy and a reminder of the friendships that continue to connect some of Hollywood’s biggest stars decades after they first worked together.
