Seth MacFarlane has shared new comments about a possible Family Guy movie and the future of the long-running animated series. The comments came during an appearance on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast.

MacFarlane is known as the creator of Family Guy, as well as other shows like American Dad and the Ted franchise. During the conversation, he spoke about many parts of his career, but one of the biggest topics was whether Family Guy will ever become a feature film.

Family Guy has been on television for more than 20 years and is still running in its 24th season. MacFarlane said he is still surprised by how popular the show remains after so long. He also said the idea of a movie has always been in his mind, even if it has not happened yet.

He talked about how he sees the movie as something special that would only be made under the right conditions. He said, “I’ve always had a pretty clear idea of what it’s going to be. It’s that arrow in the quiver that I keep for when everything else goes to shit.”

He also said the movie might only happen if there is a strong reason for it, such as a major creative shift or a moment where it feels necessary. MacFarlane suggested that he would treat the film as a big event version of the show rather than just another episode.

During the interview, he also mentioned that the success of Family Guy on television still surprises him. The show continues to attract large audiences, even after many years on the air. Because of this, he believes the series can continue as long as viewers still want it.
