Zendaya’s Liquid Gold Look in New York Might Be the Boldest ‘The Odyssey’ Outfit Yet
Zendaya has turned the ‘Odyssey’ press tour into something close to a full-time fashion residency, and New York City has become the latest stop on that tour. Between hotel departures, press events, and late-night tapings, the actress and her longtime stylist Law Roach have treated nearly every sighting this week as its own individual statement, rarely repeating a silhouette twice.
That streak has included everything from a gladiator-inspired Alberta Ferretti gown worn while signing autographs for fans outside her hotel to a breezy white Jacquemus dress with ab-baring cutouts later the same day. Even her off-duty moments have gotten the treatment, with Zendaya stepping out in a cropped white tank top and wide-leg jeans while navigating a swarm of paparazzi in Tribeca earlier in the tour.
This week, though, Roach pulled out arguably the most daring look of the entire New York stretch. Zendaya was spotted stepping out in a head-to-toe Jitrois ensemble built entirely out of liquid gold leather, and the outfit immediately stood apart from the rest of her press tour wardrobe for just how much skin it put on display.
The custom look paired Jitrois’ Massai Minoray Champagne Stretch Lambskin Leather Top with the label’s matching Newton Leather Skirt, both crafted from a buttery champagne colored lambskin. The sleeveless halter top hugged her frame in a sculpted, high-neck silhouette, with horizontal ribbed detailing running across the entire piece to create an almost armor-like effect while still keeping a soft metallic sheen.
The skirt completed the look with a high-waisted, floor-grazing silhouette, cut with an asymmetrical slit that climbed dramatically above the thigh. The combination gave the outfit a sleek, sculptural quality that leaned harder into modern edge than the softer, flowing Grecian gowns she had worn earlier in the tour, while still tying back to the metallic, statue-like palette that has defined her looks throughout the promotional run.
The moment also fits into a broader pattern that has defined Zendaya’s approach to this particular press tour, where even quick appearances outside a hotel or on the way to another commitment get treated with the same level of intention as a formal red carpet. Her stylist has pulled from an unusually wide range of labels across just the New York leg alone, moving from Alberta Ferretti’s archival Spring 2008 collection to Jacquemus, then into the sculptural world of Jitrois within the span of a few days.

Fans following the rollout have continued to point out just how consistently Zendaya has managed to make each outfit feel connected to her role as the goddess Athena, even when the specific silhouette shifts dramatically from one appearance to the next. The gold Jitrois look in particular has stood out online for pushing that theme into a bolder, more overtly sensual direction than most of her earlier press stops.
That kind of range has become something of a hallmark for Zendaya and Roach over the course of this particular campaign, with each city treated less like a repeat stop on a promotional circuit and more like a fresh runway. Paris brought couture flown in overnight, London leaned into full bridal white, and New York alone has already cycled through gladiator glamour, breezy minimalism, and now sculpted metallic leather within the span of a single week.
‘The Odyssey’ opened in theaters on July 17, following preview screenings the night before, and stars Zendaya as Athena alongside Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron.
