‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Reshoots Reportedly Wrap, and Scarlet Witch’s Return Just Got Even More Real
Marvel Studios has spent much of 2026 keeping fans guessing about who will actually show up in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ and the guessing game has only intensified as the film’s extended production winds toward the finish line. The movie originally wrapped principal photography back in September 2025, but insiders have insisted for months that a “healthy” round of additional photography was still coming.
That additional photography turned into a sprawling, months-long process, with reports throughout the summer pointing to new scenes being added for characters who were conspicuously missing from Marvel’s original cast reveal. Names like M’Baku, Sam Wilson’s Captain America, and even a possible Hawkeye return through Jeremy Renner all surfaced as the reshoots dragged on into late August.
Now, according to a new update from MCU Film News, citing insider Daniel Richtman, those reshoots have reportedly wrapped, and they reportedly included scenes featuring Scarlet Witch, Sue Storm, and other characters. It’s the clearest signal yet that Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff may factor into the film after all, something fans have been chasing rumors of for weeks.
Wanda’s fate has been one of the most persistent mysteries hanging over ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ since her apparent death in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’ Speculation ramped up after Olsen’s stunt double, Jennifer White, was spotted on set wearing an outfit resembling her Multiverse of Madness costume and posted cryptic Instagram teases hinting that Wanda was back.
Some fan theories have floated the idea that Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., may be controlling Wanda’s body or powers in some capacity, while others believe a variant of the character tied to the X-Men side of the story could appear instead. None of that has been confirmed by Marvel, but the reported wrap of reshoots involving the character adds real weight to the idea that Scarlet Witch will show up on screen in some form.
Sue Storm’s role in the reshoots is less mysterious, though no less intriguing. Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman has already been rumored to share scenes with Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, drawing on the classic Namor-Sue-Reed love triangle from the comics, and leaked set images reportedly showed the pair together in a desert setting.
With reshoots reportedly finished, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ now enters its post-production home stretch ahead of a December 18, 2026 release. The film has already been delayed once, pushed from its original May 2026 date to make room for the Russo Brothers to finish shaping the story, and its follow-up, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ isn’t due until December 2027.
The overlap hasn’t been simple either. Reports throughout August suggested Marvel was managing two productions at once, with ‘Secret Wars’ filming reportedly set to begin around the same time Doomsday’s additional photography was still underway. That tight scheduling window makes the reported wrap even more significant, since it frees up the massive ensemble cast and crew to shift focus toward the sequel.
For a film built around heroes colliding across three different universes, from the Avengers to the Fantastic Four to the returning ‘X-Men’ cast, every reshoot update carries outsized weight for fans trying to piece together who actually survives to the final cut. Scarlet Witch and Sue Storm reportedly being part of these final scenes suggests Marvel is still fine-tuning exactly how its biggest crossover yet comes together.
Marvel has yet to officially confirm any of these reshoot details, and the studio has kept most plot specifics tightly under wraps. Still, with cameras reportedly no longer rolling, attention will likely shift toward trailers and marketing as December approaches.
What do you think Scarlet Witch and Sue Storm's reported reshoot scenes mean for Avengers: Doomsday?
