Forbes Says Adria Arjona Playing DCU’s Wonder Woman in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Is Hollywood’s Worst-Kept Secret

James Gunn’s rebuilt DC Universe has become a masterclass in guarding its biggest reveals, with the studio consistently keeping key castings under wraps until it’s ready to make them official. That approach worked well with ‘Superman’ last year, and it appears to be playing out again with the studio’s upcoming sequel.

That sequel is ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ and much of the speculation swirling around its cast has centered on one actress in particular: Adria Arjona. While trade reports initially linked her to Maxima, a lesser-known alien queen from Superman’s rogues’ gallery, persistent theories have suggested she’s actually being lined up for a far bigger role.

That theory has now gotten a fresh push from Forbes contributor Paul Tassi, who argues that Arjona playing Wonder Woman has become what he calls the worst-kept secret in the industry. It’s worth being clear that this is Tassi’s analysis and theory rather than an official confirmation from DC Studios, Arjona, or Gunn, none of whom have addressed the casting directly.

Tassi’s case rests heavily on circumstantial evidence rather than any direct announcement. He points to Arjona’s close friendship with Gunn, her relationship with fellow DCU star Jason Momoa, and her increasingly public workout routine, all of which he argues point toward a much more physically demanding role than a supporting villain would typically require.

Arjona herself has continued fueling the speculation without confirming anything specific. While promoting her new action film ‘Onslaught,’ she’s discussed her demanding training regimen at length, at one point explaining that being part of “the DC family” motivates her to push through it, according to Forbes.

Tassi also draws a comparison to how Sadie Sink’s mystery role in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ was widely theorized to be Jean Grey well before that casting was ever confirmed, arguing a similar pattern is playing out here. His reasoning suggests it would make little sense for Marvel or DC to hide a minor character’s casting this aggressively, when past supporting roles in these franchises have typically been announced without much fanfare.

Adding to the theory, Tassi notes that ‘Supergirl’ writer Ana Nogueira has reportedly been assigned to develop a Wonder Woman project, which he argues signals the character has become a higher priority within the DCU than previously understood. Based on that timeline, he speculates Arjona could be officially unveiled as Wonder Woman shortly after ‘Onslaught’ finishes its theatrical run, rather than facing a prolonged wait for confirmation.

It’s worth noting that this theory has evolved considerably over the past several months. Earlier reporting linked Arjona to Maxima through multiple casting lists that also included actresses like Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler and Grace Van Patten, with Gunn publicly disputing at least one of those reports as inaccurate without ever directly addressing the Wonder Woman speculation.

That inconsistency has left plenty of room for theories to shift, and Tassi’s latest piece represents just the newest iteration of a rumor that has bounced between different characters for months without any official resolution. Whether Arjona ends up playing Maxima, Wonder Woman, or something else entirely remains genuinely unconfirmed at this point.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ is set to bring back David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, with Lars Eidinger confirmed as the film’s central villain, Brainiac. The film is currently scheduled for release in 2027, giving Gunn and DC Studios plenty of time to either confirm or continue dodging questions about Arjona’s role before then.

For now, fans will have to keep parsing workout videos and stray comments for clues, much like they did with Sink’s Marvel Comics debut.
