The ‘Street Fighter’ Popcorn Bucket Is Officially Guile’s Hair, and Yes, You Can Wear It
Movie theater popcorn buckets have become their own strange, beloved corner of film marketing in recent years, with studios increasingly competing to create the most absurd, collectible container possible for each major theatrical release. From Shao Kahn’s helmet for ‘Mortal Kombat II’ to countless character-shaped buckets before it, the format has turned into a genuine fan obsession all its own.
That tradition continues with this fall’s live-action ‘Street Fighter‘ adaptation, which has already generated plenty of buzz for its faithful, game-accurate approach to bringing Capcom’s iconic fighters to the screen. Ahead of the film’s release, fans have been eagerly speculating about what kind of themed merchandise might accompany the movie’s theatrical rollout.
That speculation has now been confirmed in the most gloriously specific way possible. AMC Theatres has officially unveiled its exclusive ‘Street Fighter’ popcorn bucket, and it’s exactly what fans hoped for: a wearable bucket shaped like Guile’s iconic flat-top hairstyle, designed to sit directly on top of your head with popcorn piled in where his hair would normally be.

Cody Rhodes, along with the official Legendary, Paramount, and ‘Street Fighter’ movie accounts, jointly posted the reveal, describing the bucket with the tagline “Aerodynamic. Ergonomic. Delicious.” The design isn’t just a shelf display piece either, functioning as a genuine wearable container in the same spirit as this spring’s Mortal Kombat II Shao Kahn helmet bucket sold at AMC and Regal.
That comparison gives fans a rough sense of what to expect price-wise, since the wearable Shao Kahn helmet bucket previously sold for $42.95 at 85 ounces, while a non-wearable arcade cabinet bucket from the same release ran $34.95. AMC hasn’t officially announced pricing or capacity for the Guile bucket yet, though it’s expected to land somewhere in a similar range once ordering officially opens.

The design choice makes plenty of sense given how central Guile’s hairstyle has become to early buzz around the film. WWE superstar Cody Rhodes plays the character, and his game-accurate flat-top look has already drawn significant attention online, marking a notable departure from Jean-Claude Van Damme’s shorter, gelled hairstyle in the original 1994 ‘Street Fighter’ film.
That attention to detail extends to earlier footage as well, with a Game Awards trailer previously showing Guile somersault-kicking Vega through a wall while sporting the same distinctive hairpiece. Turning that already-memed hairstyle into a wearable popcorn container feels like a natural, if delightfully ridiculous, next step for the film’s marketing team.

While the Guile bucket is officially locked in, other rumored merchandise tied to the release, including an arcade cabinet-style bucket and character topper cups, haven’t been confirmed yet. Those additional designs, along with whatever Regal or Cinemark might offer as their own theater-exclusive options, should become clearer once advance ticket sales officially open.
Given how popcorn bucket lineups for major releases typically go live alongside ticket sales, fans likely won’t have to wait too much longer to see the full picture of what’s coming alongside this particular release.
‘Street Fighter’ hits theaters October 16, distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film is set in 1993 and follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken Masters as they’re pulled back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a conflict that hides a deadly conspiracy forcing them to confront both each other and their pasts.
Between the game-accurate casting and now this thoroughly committed popcorn bucket, ‘Street Fighter’s’ marketing team clearly understands exactly what die-hard fans of the franchise want heading into opening weekend.
Would you actually wear the Guile hair popcorn bucket to see Street Fighter?
