Abdalla made her Paris Fashion Week debut on Sept. 28, walking in L’Oreal Paris Le Defile at Place Joffre near the Eiffel Tower. She wore a floor-length ivory satin gown for the occasion, which was a dramatic step into the world of runway shows. A few days later, she shared another photo on Instagram showing a matching black set with silver metallic studs, made up of a strappy camisole and a long skirt.
In that image, she wore her hair loose and tousled on a sunlit balcony with trees, blue sky and an ornate railing. Abdalla stars as Allie Hayes in Prime Video’s ‘Off Campus’, based on Elle Kennedy’s romance novels. The series premiered on May 13 and drew 36 million viewers worldwide in its first 12 days. Prime Video renewed it for a second season in February, three months before the first episode aired.
The show has been a strong performer for the platform, and Abdalla leads its cast. She and co-star Stephen Kalyn will lead the next season, which adapts the third book, ‘The Score’, and focuses on Allie and Dean Di Laurentis.
Creator Louisa Levy has said all eight scripts for the second season are written, and filming was reportedly set to begin days after the first season premiered. No premiere date has been announced. Fans expect a debut around April or May of next year, based on the timeline of the first season.
Returning cast members include Abdalla, Kalyn, Antonio Cipriano, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli. Newcomers include India Fowler as Grace Ivers, Phillipa Soo as Scarlett and Shay Rudolph as Summer Di Laurentis, Dean’s younger sister. Josh Heuston will not return as Justin Kohl.
Abdalla has also said that playing Allie felt easy and relaxed, which was something new for her. She has suggested the next season will show a more emotionally turbulent side of the character, meaning Allie will lose some of her best-friend energy.
Before ‘Off Campus’, Abdalla was best known for the Netflix series ‘Project Mc2’, in which she played McKeyla from 2015 to 2017. That show earned five Daytime Emmy nominations. She has also appeared in ‘The Flash’, the Hulu film ‘Sex Appeal’ and HBO Max’s ‘The Pitt’, where she had a four-episode arc as a college student named Jenna.
Her first credit came as a young child in an episode of ‘Barney & Friends’. That long résumé helps explain how comfortable she looks in front of the camera, whether the setting is a streaming set or a fashion shoot.
